I have a rather unusual question.

I am about to buy a gen 1 glock 17 that has had it's sights replaced with new trijicons. Since this will be nothing more than a range toy, I would like to remove the night sights (and put them on my 19) so that I can reinstall the factory sights.

My question is: Is there a source for the old glock staked front sights and would it be possible to install it at home? I'd like to bring the pistol back to 1986 correct.

Why not just use the newer front sights that screw on?  Much more secure and can be reused.  Part of the reason I hate the staked sight was I have knocked them off before not even doing tier 1 mall ninja tacticool shooting ..... just drawing from holster and shooting.

Not to mention you would need the staking tool. (Remember how much of a PITA that was?)

I used to love the staked on fronts.  I could just pop 'em off on the side of the table when installing real sights.  No tools required!

Sounds like he is trying to restore a gen1 to its correct configuration. At gen1 prices it's a worthy project.
