I ran about 3 full mags of my reloads through my gen 2 19 this afternoon with no problem then this started happening. I switched to a different mag with factory ammo and had the same issue. Any ideas? I haven't disassembled yet but am about to.

Time for a new extractor and/or spring loaded bearing?

As noted above check your extractor, I had a 23 that had a chipped extractor from loading via dropping rounds in and it would constantly have failures to extract.

The extractor on my 19 went at around 5000 rounds and I started getting the occasional failure to extract.

I got it apart and sprayed all the nooks and crannies out with solvent and swabbed all holes with q-tips. Lots and lots of brass flakes so maybe it was just due for a good cleaning? I'll try to get a good pic of the extractor.

Extractor's chipped. Time for another one. Should solve your problems.

I have spare extractor out of a gen 3 with the LCI. Will that work?

And like the above poster said, don't drop rounds into the chamber. They should come up UNDER the extractor, not over it.

I've never done that. I just got this one a couple of weeks ago from Aim Surplus so the previous owner may have.

You need the older 90 degree extractor, non-LCI.

This. Also go ahead and replace the extractor spring and RSA if you have not done so already.
