Call Rick Callahan at Ameriglo.  They offer several excellent choices that don't require a sight pusher for the rear sight.  They also include the front sight tool.  They're currently using Trijicon tubes, which are excellent.  Aha!  Just happened to have Rick's number on my caller i.d.  (770) 390-0554.

What quality night sights are out there with bright white circles around the dots?  I have Trijicon's on my SIG, but the tubes/rings are silver metallic.

Just take it to an armorer to be done correctly with the proper tools. That why you won't fuck up your gun or your sights. The most they'll charge is $20-$25. If this is a gun for self defense, isn't your life worth that?

+1 on the Meprolights being good sights, but I had the smith at my range put them on.  It took him about 5 minutes and only cost me $7.  I've got them on a 17 and a 19, and really like them.

JMHO Meps are the best sights out there for GLOCKs and very reasonably priced as well.  Takes about 3 minutes for someone to install them.  I bought the sights from the local gun store and they put them on for free.

Ameriglo sights are excellent and, as Walter said, they offer many models that secure the rear sight with a set screw.  They are the way to go if you don't have access to a sight pusher.

Are you sure you reallly NEED night sights?  To truly engage any possible target you should be illuminating the target which will also make night sights very hard to see.  That is why I don't see the need to spend good money on nightsights when I can utilize the same money on more ammunition.  I already own a surefire 6p so my target is well lighted up.

Can a gunsmith align the sights close to zero, or would you have to go back and forth from the 'smith to the range to zero in?  (sorry, never changed sights before).

Also, re: needing sights, I will say I awoke once to a "bump" in the night, and it was good to see the 3 green dots (had no flashlight).  Otherwise I literally would have been in position for a shot in the dark.

YMMV

If your stock sights are zeroed the smith installing your sights should be able to look at the position of them and install your new sights offset one way or the other to get you close enough!

IMHO I don't think any defensive handgun should be without them.
