I found a gen2 G17 that I'm considering buying.  It's got some good wear on the slide and frame, but overall seems to be in good shape.  If one were to purchase a gen2 gun, what would you look at as far as updating it?  I don't mean external parts, as I can figure that out myself, but I mean as far as internally,  such as springs?

Or anything in general I guess, if it were you, what would you change or update?

ETA:  I have been looking at DSG Arms website because of the discount they offer, and I see they have most Zev springs and other various parts.  I see lots of different spring kits and springs and I'm not gonna lie, I don't understand what they all do and in conjunction with what.

Perhaps the recoil spring and the trigger spring. A really good, thorough detail strip and cleaning will reveal a lot.

Ship the whole pistol back to Glock for night sites. They will give it a complete rebuild for you and still just charge $59.

Really?  I've never heard of this.  So the rebuild is $59? How much do they charge for night sites?

Here's how it goes when you send your gun in for Glock night sights:

1- strip slide off of the frame and remove the slide plate, firing pin, extractor depressor plunger and spring.
2- put the stripped slide in a USPS Priority box along with a Glock Warranty Repair form:  https://us.glock.com/documents/GLOCK%20Warranty.pdf
3- Either include a check for $59 (plus your local tax) OR have Glock call you for your credit card number.
4- Bring it to the post office.
5- Wait about 7 working days.
6- Slide will arrive Via Fedex (you'll have to sign).  Slide will have new night sights ALONG with new slide plate, firing pin, extractor depressor plunger and spring.
7- Enjoy.

Glocks night sight replacement program is really the best deal lon the planet as far as I'm concerned.

Exactly.  Glock's night sights may not be the perfect sights, but you sure get a lot of bang for your buck when you strip the slide and send it in.

Look through this, go through your Glock thoroughly and replace the parts you need. As I say, a new spring kit is highly recommended and if you identify any  older parts that are seen in the article, update them.
