Hi all,

I've normally been shooting the really weak PPU 180 grain stuff out of my G29 at the range. However, yesterday I was testing some Buffalo Bore heavy 10mm JHP ammo, and the gun was failing to fully eject (stovepiping).

I feel stupid because I didn't bring enough ammo to do a really rigorous test, but the stuff is 30 bucks for 20 shells. I can't afford to shoot a ton of this!

I suspect I was limp-wristing, as the gun fired fine for the last mag of ammo i loaded when I held it much stiffer. However, I can't be sure. I never have hang-ups with the weak PPU stuff, so this confused me.

Does anyone have any theories?

This doesn't make sense as usually going to a full load slams the 29 slide back. Usually people go from the stock 17# spring up to a 21# spring and have problems like your having with light loads. I have carried a 29 with a 21# spring for over three years and have thousands of rounds through without a single fail to function. I shoot almost all full house loads, but have shot some light stuff,PPU,Remington without issue.
All I can think of is you're letting the barrel really rise, flip up, with the hotter loads and not getting enough rearward energy to cycle.

You have already found your problem.  Limp wristing.

This is my theory because you're used to shooting the .40 type loads of the PPU.  Then a dramatic shift to the hot loads.  I would imagine the first round really took you back and the rest were the effects of anticipating the recoil.  Just my guess though, without shooting more hot loads.  My 29 has been great with everything from weak PPU to hot underwood.

Mine works fine with hot and light loads. All stock. The only thing I changed is a non serrated trigger.
