I recently purchased a Glock 43 and while I haven't had the opportunity to fire it yet I have been handling it a fair amount to try to get used to it. I've discovered two things that concern me.

1. While checking trigger reset on the cleared firearm I rack the slide, pull the trigger, hold it to the rear, and rack the slide again. Now at this point, before releasing the trigger to reset, if I pull on the trigger a little the entire slide assembly moves. Not much but definitely a noticeable amount. This seems rather odd to me. Is this normal?

2. On a number of occasions after pulling the trigger on a dummy cartridge the slide locks closed. I can get it to move to the rear just enough to remove it from the frame. Once removed I move the firing pin back about 1/8" and reassemble the pistol and the slide operates fine. This really bothers me as it doesn't happen ALL of the time, maybe 20%, and god forbid I should ever find myself in a self defense situation and have a failure to fire it would be a really bad time to have to disassemble the pistol.

The pistol was purchased new from a BL distributor and the fired case is dated 8/24/15. I really want to like this gun. Has anyone experienced any similar issues or have any thoughts on the matter? Thanks

#1 is completely normal.

#2, could you have an out-of-spec dummy round? Does the slide ever "lock" closed when dry firing on an empty chamber? What exactly do you mean by "locked" closed?

Thanks for the replies and my apologies for not getting back on here sooner. I'm glad to know that #1 is normal. As far as #2 goes, when I say locked up I mean that the slide is forward, dummy round in the chamber, trigger has been pulled, and I am unable to pull the slide to the rear. It is quite possible that the dummy round is out of spec. To long maybe. I've used this one for several years, on a number of different firearms, and haven't had any problems though.

I do plan on taking it, and the G19 I picked up yesterday, to the range soon... really.

Does the slide ever "lock" closed when dry firing on an empty chamber? That should tell you whether or not your dummy round is out of spec. I was always under the impression that dummy rounds /= snap caps.

Just shoot it, I have 400 trouble free rounds fired out of mine. I suspect it will be the same for you.
