Anybody have problems with blazer brass in their recent production 42?  Or any other kind of ammo you've had problems with?  Mine was produced last month.  Hornady XTP, and Federal FMJ seem to work fine.  Fiocci i had one fail to eject out of 50 rds.  Blazer brass was terrible failures of all kinds.  I even had powder all over the shooting bench after shooting blazer brass.   My gun has only had 212 rds through it so im sure it will improve.

Sorry to hear that. 400 rounds through mine without failures. And it is from the early batch that was supposed to have some problems.

The 42's are definitely ammo sensitive. If you find brands that work stick with them. If you find those it does not like avoid them.
The only trouble I have had so far with mine ( I am guessing over 500 rounds since bought) has been my personal reloads just barely cycle the gun and have given me about 1 malfunction per box. And this is with the powder charge at max. A trusted friends reloads with a different powder run fine.
Factory ammo has been 100%

Clean the chamber. Especially if you are switching from brass to non-brass and back.

I own a Glock 42 that has run reliably.  All I have fired so far is Brown Bear FMJ and CCI Lawmen HP.  I may pick up a box of Blazer and see if the pistol malfunctions.

Mine made it to the 300-400 round range before issues began, I called Glock with no questions asked they sent me a shipping number and rebuilt most of the internals for nothing and had it back to me in about 10 days.

Well i put 50 rounds of Remington JHP and 100 rounds of Winchester white box.  Ran perfectly!!!!!!   The recoil spring and magazine springs feel smoother and lighter.  From what i have obseved the 42 just needs some breaking in and then it runs like a glock is supposed too.

Mine wouldn't run with brass cases ammo for the first 700 rounds, yet steel cased and aluminum case worked fine. Polished the chamber and brass case started working. That said my wife shot it for the first time today and had three stove pipes from a single mag of PMC.

The 42 is a finicky gun IME

Had one manufactured in November (all the updated parts).  I put 300 rounds of various brass, steel and aluminum case ball ammo through it.   Never fired more than 50rds through it without some type of malfuntion.   Sometimes had 3 or 4 malfunctions out of a box of 50.   Called Glock twice about sending it back to them and they wanted me to do it on my dime and would not send a shipping label.   Said fuck it and sold it after 6 months.   Just did not want to deal with the hassle of sending it back, "hoping" they could get the bugs worked out of it.   I really hated to get rid of it, as it was a soft shooter and very accurate.   I am far from a Glock hater and have had great luck with the 17, 19, 22, 23 and 27 models.   I will NEVER buy another single stack Glock again.

My wife really has her heart set on a G42 and the local dealer has both USA and Austrian units, as well as practically every variety of factory .380 range and carry ammo...

Is there any pattern in terms of USA vs Austrian G42s, or any particular range/carry ammos that seem to run well in all/most G42s?

Based on my experience I would say she would be better served by a G43. If her heart is set on .380 the the Sig 230/232

She has checked out the Sigs and a few other 380s and small 9mms, but really wants to stay with Glock.  We're going to rent a G42 and G43 so that she can get a feel for the guns and then decide.  She did try them both in AIWB in the store and had a strong preference for the slightly smaller G42. She can run her G19 like a pro, but is attracted to the reports of soft shooting G42s and is turned off by the idea of a "snappy" G43.   She thinks she is recoil sensitive, but shoots a G20 well.  She hated my S&W 642 and I don't blame her.

No such thing as an Austrian 42- they need to be made or at least assembled in the states as otherwise they are too small to import due to size criteria

Just got back from the range after shooting a couple of my Tokarev's and my G42. It officially has 300 rounds through it and I had zero issues. The first time out, I was experiencing the slide locking back with a magazine still partially loaded. It happened about five times during the shooting period. (100 rounds) The second time out, the number decreased slightly, again with 100 rounds. Today, there were no issues at all with the 100 rounds I fired. Every time out, I used freedom munitions reman .380. I am hoping that the gun is now past its issues.
