it has about 500 rounds through it.  a mix of 124gr NATO (200 rds), 147gr HST +P (100 rds) and Federal 147gr fmj (200 rds)

twice recently i have had a stoppage where the top round nosedives in the mag and the slide locks to the rear.  its impossible to cycle the slide or remove the magazine.  i have to push on the top round to get it aligned right in the mag feed lips before the slide will move. it happened once with the 124gr NATO and once with the Federal 147gr

ideas?

Measure and compare the front lip gap on your magazines.  If one got smashed it could cause ftf problems.

In a effort to collect data for the sake of tracking problems, can you provide your test fired date or partial serial #?

Mine is ZEA2xx and no problems in the 100 WWB and 50 Fed HST 147gr that were fired out of it.

I've had FTFs on the last round of my +2 base plate.  I noticed I can induce the SAME failure to feed when riding the slide--whether the gun is aimed down (like in the video) or up or any which way.  A 1911 gunsmith friend says he sees this on guns with feed lips that are too open/loose.  To me it seems like a mag-related issue (l can ride all my other glocks with no problem).  But will someone ride their slide and see if they also get a 100% failure to feed rate?

I know most will say "just shoot it, don't ride the slide!" but, again, I DO think this relates to my FTFs since they look IDENTICAL TO THIS--with the bullet jumping ahead of the extractor.

Is this what is happening to you, OP?

Sorry I can hyperlink or embed--on iPhone--but here is a video of it:

The removable ammunition feeding device is the single greatest cause of cycling malfunctions.
The magazine is always the prime suspect.  Rule it out first, every time.

Regarding +2 baseplate malfunctions: I'm not surprised at all. The spring was designed and sized to operate in a particular range and adding a +2 baseplate extends it beyond that range. It's likely placing inadequate pressure on the last 2 rounds.

WEAK MAG SPRINGS.

Yeah, I'm not surprised by the +2 issues.  I'll get a +15% spring ASAP.  Ghost will come with extended springs.  But it can be induced with ALL my OEM mags as well as the extended ones.

However, I think something is up with the timing/mag if this is normal with all g43s but no other glocks.  Glock changed the 42 magazine TWICE without telling consumers, so we may see upgraded mags if we expose a need for them.

Serial:  ZBV5xx   500-600rds through it.
