Dumb question really, but it won't be the first or last one I ask. Eyeballing a Kentucky State Police trade in Gen 4 27 that is a great deal, even when compared to a blue label new one. .40 is my issued ammo and required on duty. But off duty is my own thing and I usually carry a 19 or 36. Looking at the Gen 4s, I know the compact and full size models use a larger diameter channel for the dual recoil spring setup than the previous models. Is there any difference on the 26/27 between generations on the recoil spring channel in the frame? Essentially what I am wanting to do is buy the Gen 4 27 and then pick up a 26 slide for it so I can shoot 9mm as well. I don't want to do just a conversion barrel with this one unlike what I am looking at for my 23 and 35. Those will get used pretty much as range toys and training. The 26/27 combo I would want to be able to rely upon for carry. It's no big deal to me to swap out the ejector in the frame when I swap slides. Picking up a Gen 4 26 slide would obviously make this a pointless question, but they are really proud of them on Gunbroker right now. If I run across a good deal on a Gen 3 I want to know if it will work okay without a huge gap in the front of the pistol. Thanks guys. |
