I recently put a STS micro dot on my G22 and I am an old guy and I like it a lot.........but, I can't see the front sight when looking thru the dot sight and hence it's hard to quickly get the red dot on target, it takes a second or two to find it, and when I fire it, the recoil moves it up and it take another second to find it.  I can shoot my open sight gun quicker.  I am wanting a taller front sight so that I can have it sort of co indexed or whatever it's called, it's not a mos model.  what say the hive, anyone using a taller front sight and if so how tall is it or what kind is it. Thanks in advance. I really like the set up, just taking some getting use to.

Keep shooting.  I shot my buddies over the weekend it takes time to get used to the red dot on the pistol if you have not done a lot of shooting with it.  Speed will come with practice.  It took me about 75 rounds to "START" getting used to it.

I plan on putting one on my G34 probably after Xmas of this year to much other stuff to jump in at this time.  I have about 300 rounds behind one and it takes time to get the mechanics of it down.

You probably want a suppressor sight. :)

Even so, it might still be hard to see through the sight if our slide isn't milled deep enough.

I'm using a standard height front, and with a Deltapoint & slide milled I can just see the top of the sight through mine. It's perfect.

I can't say I've ever heard of someone using a tall front sight without a rear sight to try and co-witness a red dot. The red dot I have on my 34 would need a front sight that is an inch or higher to co-witness.

It isn't to co witness, but it aids big time in dot acquisition, which is what OP wants.

From  many years ago, I found that drawing
the front sight down through the window got
me to the dot pretty quick and with some
practice it got better. Also I found that if I
squeeze a little harder with my weak hand,
than my strong hand, I can get back to my
irons or the dot quicker regardless of what handgun
I was shooting. A taller front sight will help even if
you can only see it near the bottom of the window.

Good luck.

Bingo. I can just see mine at the bottom of the window and I pick the dot up immediately upon raising the gun up.

Cool!

With the front sight low in the window,
it's sort of like 1/3 co-witness.

And you can use the front sight in that
area of the window for quick, close range
snap firing, and you don't have to find the
dot. Flash fire, I think we called it.

Correct. Just isn't a true lower 1/3 co witness because I'm not running a rear sight.  :)

I don't know how your STS is mounted or what height sight you need, but I believe Dawson will make a front sight in any height you want if you ask them.
