I just ordered my Silencerco Octane 45 HD from Silencer Shop and they are having a promotion where you get a free threaded Glock 21 barrel.  So now I need to start looking for a new pistol.  I have handled the Gen 3 21's and they were just too fat.  Now I am looking at either a Gen 3 21SF (already have a Gen 3 30SF which I like) or a Gen 4 21.  I am just looking for a little input as far as which one has the smallest grip, and which would make the best suppressor host.  I have 8-10 months to make up my mind, but I thought that there wouldn't be any harm in picking up the pistol a little early and getting used to it.  Thanks for the help.

The 21SF is nice. The Gen 4 is just a 21SF you can convert back to a standard 21 (with a few levels in between).

Hard to beat the Gen4. I have never really heard anything negative about them. I have 500+ trouble free rounds through mine. Nice soft shooting pistol. I can only imagine shooting it with a can on it.

Regards,

Chuck

I've also only got around 500rds on my Gen4 G21, but it's a keeper. I went with the Gen4 because of the grip texture and mag release.

To put in perspective of how much I like it, I had carried 1911's for the first 4 years of having a carry license, that ended the day I sold one of them to fund the G21. It's my EDC gun in an AlienGear IWB holster.

I have a 21SF in OD and I fucking love it. This is one of, if the only gun I will never sell. It's pure sex in my hand. So the Gen3 SF has my vote as I have yet to try the Gen4 or 41.

I bought a threaded barrel from Gemtech and it came in the black w/ a thread protector. Barrel is made by LoneWolf.

Gen 3 21SF. Best gun GLOCK has made, IMO, but I don't care for the gen 4 grip texture and I'm left handed so the reversible mag catch means nothing to me.

I prefer the grip texture and mag release of the gen 4.  The dual recoil spring might be slightly better with the extra weight of the suppressor on the barrel,  but it probably won't matter that much in terms of reliability.

The SO and gen 4 without back straps are the same size, fyi.

Obligatory pic of .45 awesomeness.

After buying my first gen 4, I haven't bought another gen 3.  I prefer the grip texture, the mag release, and the beavertail backstraps (I get bad slide bite, especially with the 20/21 size guns) on the gen 4.

I'm told the gen 3 21 has been discontinued.

I much prefer the Gen4 texture over the Gen3 texture.  My hands sweat a lot, so the the Gen4 texture suits me better.

If you have that much time to make a decision, I would suggest going to a range and rent both to see which one YOU like the best.

I have bee looking to get a Glock in 45ACP and like the OP have not decided which one yet.  I looked at a G21 Gen 2 with a threaded barrel and a G21 Gen 4 and still am not sure.  I now carry a G20sf and like it so am not in a hurry to get a G21, just want one in 45 ACP.  I still need to find and hold a G21sf.  The Gen 2 with the threaded barrel does have a 'little' more draw though!

Is your G21 a factory color? Or did you do that yourself?

Great choices, only I would have them in a slightly different order.

Glock 21 Gen4
Glock 30 Gen4
Glock 41 Gen4

Just my personal opinion.

I got a g21sf first, and put a threaded barrel and suppressor sights on it.  Runs great with a can.  I got a g30s next.  Then last i got a g41.  It has a x300 on it and sits bedside.

I'd get a Gen 4.
