What say the Hive? I recently got a Police Trade-in G23 from AIM. It is literally barely used. I've never had an interest in the .40S&W but due to my employers use of that caliber and abundance of .40S&W, I jumped on it. Anyway, I am interested in .357Sig. Other than obviously the barrel, what other parts need to be swapped to run .357Sig SAFELY through the G23 platform.

I'd like to hear from the folks who have actually done it.

Thanks,

S/F

I have G22 in 40sw and have barrels and mags for both 9mm and 357 sig. That's all you need. Brownell's sells conversion barrels to convert g22 40 to both 9mm and 357 sig.

I have a 23 with Lone Wolf Barrels for 9mm, 40,. and .357 Sig, works great, you need to get .357 Sig mags or new .40 mags to feed right. You can use both mags for either or though,

I had a LWD .357 barrel for my G35 for a while. Worked fine with just the barrel change and .40 mags.

.357 is just a necked down .40 S&W.  Barrel conversion is all you need.

All you need is a barrel, it can be original Glock or a barrel from Lone Wolf.

I went the opposite direction with it, and bought a Glock 32 (357 Sig) for cheap, then bought the 40 S&W and the 40-9 conversion barrel from Lone Wolf.  The 357 and 40 mags are the same, and I had G19 mags sitting around from a G19 I used to own, so I now have a 3 caliber gun with only barrels to swap (and mags of course).

Thanks for the help guys! I wasn't so sure it was as simple as a barrel change. I think I will use a seperate OEM RSA dedicated to that barrel as well.

Not entirely true.  You need good earplugs too.

I needed 357 mags to be 100% reliable. Something about the follower. Try your 40 mags extensively to make sure all is good.

New .40 mags work with .357 Sig, I use them all the time, when I tried some old ones they didn't feed right
The followers are different

I have old 22/23 mags I use and they work for for .357Sig and 40S&W.  I have some really old 22 mags never had issues with but you can update the followers if the variants you have do not feed.

I did the same as a previous poster bought a cheap used G32 and swap barrels as needed.  I also do this with my 27 and it has always worked great.
I have a LW 40 barrel for my 32 and Glock 357 barrel for my 27.

I can see buying a .40 and getting a 9mm conversion, but .357 is expensive as Hell to shoot, usually twice what 9mm costs and 30% more than .40.

It's something different. The 357 shoots....different. I like it. Not as snappy as the 40 but more authority than a 9mm. And it is very accurate. You can practice with the 40 and then carry the 357 for some unknown benefit. Maybe you need the flat trajectory or the extra velocity over the 9mm... The 9mm is much more practical while the 40 is harder hitting.

There is certainly no "need" for 357 Sig in my opinion. But I like it.

I am old, when I qualified in the Academy, it was with a S&W 686, we have Glock 40s now, But I have always loved the .357 Magnum. The .357 Sig is my favorite load in a .357.... 125 grain JHP @ 1350fps. But unlike the .357, I have a lot more in the handle. That is why I am processing a 1000 once fired and have 1000 new Starline brass. I am covered for my forever.

I had a Sig 229 and was getting roads from a trusted source. It's a trick round to reload to keep them from key holing, reshape the shoulders, trim the brass, and then the brass could only be used a few times before they started cracking and chipping. It's a high pressure round and bad loads can be disastrous, which why Massad Ayoob has said it should not be reloaded. Once my guy stopped loading them I couldn't afford them off the shelf. I sold the Sig and have never had any desire to get back into it.
