I have a question for all the glock experts in internet world.
WHY is the glock 19 the most popular glock world wide? When there is so much talk about the weak 9mm.LOL |
| I started off buying pistols in .45 ACP. I had up to one time 6 pistols in .45 ACP. I have now sold them off for 3 Glock 19's. Those are the only pistols I have left. But they all have different setups and serve a different purpose. They are perfect for what I need them to be. |

9mm isn't weak. The 19 is big enough to be useful, small enough to carry and very reliable. That about sums it up. Yep, for me it is a fantastic balance of size/weight/power/capacity/controllability for the purpose of CCW, and utterly reliable on top of all that. I own several, and have carried one daily for two decades now. For something other than CCW, I have other favorites... but the G19 will suffice for most applications and excels at CCW. JMHO. |

Capacity
shootability customization options small enough to conceal large enough to grip properly modularity with other mags (17, 19, and 33 rounds) ease of use aftermarket support proven track record over several decades 9mm advancements place +P Bonded JHP ammo performance on par with most .40and .45 loads I really wanted to not like the Glock 19. I really did. It feels like a LEGO in my hand, made of Tupperware, boring to look at, and everyone else has one too. It's a darn shame that I shoot it better than any other pistol platform I've tried so I guess I'm stuck with them. |

All of the above. Too many old school people who think of 9mm as the 9mm of 20-30 years ago. The modern ammo out there now makes it whole new ball game. Its a great all around SD round and should be treated as such.
I am a .40 guy because the LE agencies I have worked for all carry .40 and mandate me to do so. Its still a great round but the 9mm has caught up to it pretty much. My 23 is and has been a great gun for over 15 years. |

Until you shoot and carry one for a while, you just can't get it. There's nothing magical about it when you hold one in the gun store. You have to use it to appreciate it. |

I agree with all of the above. At one time I had 9 Glocks. The only one I kept was the Glock 19. It is easy to carry, more comfortable to shoot than the G26. And like the others said, use ball ammo for practice. Then get some of the newer more powerful, hollow point ammo for protection. Not saying you shouldn't practice with some protection ammo to make sure it works, and you are used to it.
Thanks, Mark |

I love my 2 G19s (but I loved them more after a grip-reduction, stippling, 3.5# trigger, rounded and undercut trigger-guard, etc.).
I was raised on the G19 since I was 16 (1988), so I never shot DA/SA or SA only. I'm still not the biggest fan of the grip, but I shoot them better than anything else I've tried. I've owned a six variations, but now only have two 19s and a 42 (though I'm looking forward to this NEW slim 9mm supposedly inbound). To me, it's the AK of pistols. Simple, solid and underrated out to 100Y. ;o) |
| On the basis of what I NEED in an EDC, G19 most closely fits all my criteria, it's the best balance of all attributes in a carry pistol. I LIKE my VP9 better, but I never fool myself into thinking that the G19 isn't one of, if not the best all around pistol at present. |
