Those of you that have read my posts on here before may know, I go to the range 1-2 times per week. I take my time and never shoot very fast. Well, my local range started having GSSF matches. The only Glock I had left out of 9 was a G19, with a 3.5 lb. Ghost trigger pull and night sights. My first string, I took too long and still had one in the chamber when the buzzer went off. After that, I picked up the pace, and did fairly well. Most of all, IT WAS A LOT OF FUN!! The last match I had shot in was a high power match back in the mid to late 90's. I can't wait for the next match! I may have to branch out and try some other matches. Question, I bought a G17 for the rest of these matches. I already have the Ghost trigger connector for it, as well as some extra Glock mags CDNN has on sale for $19.99. Question, I like night sights, and am used to them. This new gun has the std. Glock sights, should I be changing them out? If so, what to you suggest?

Any sight is legal as long as it is just post and notch, no ghost rings except for Unlimited.
As the last post mentioned, aftermarket parts are not allowed except Unlimited. OP, along with "Civilian", you can also shoot your 19 (or 17) in "Competition". I typically shoot in Master Stock, Competition, Heavy Metal, and Sub Compact. I'll have a 42 before too long so I might add Pocket Glock to that in the future. |

I'd bet the OP is referring to indoor matches, given the buzzer comment. I have seen guys at outdoor matches go 3 minutes - no buzzer. I have not seen the outdoor match divisions applied to indoor matches. In one indoor match (3 events a month apart) I used a 36, 21, and then a 19. I've also stood next to someone with a 26 while I had a 34. (Guess who had a higher score?) However, as in the outdoor matches, your Glock should be stock (other than sights). There is no division for modified / unlimited for indoor matches. |

Yes, this was an indoor range. The people in charge also know I had the Ghost in the G19. I told them, they were like "so what", so I didn't give it another thought. You have to shoot 5 rounds, with 10cartridges per round. Each round is 15 seconds. So what you guys are telling me is no 3.5 trigger pull? The G34 comes with a 3.5 lb trigger pull. Maybe I should get one of those..........

I was talking about the rules for the outdoor matches when I was talking about what was legal and not legal.
I would have thought the rules were basically the same for the indoor but I don't know. I also wouldn't brand you a cheater for that, especially if you weren't aware of the rules. I've never seen a gun checked so I would imagine there are several people walking around with those that probably don't know the rules (and some that do). |
