I have never had this happen to me and have no clue what caused it.  Ideas?

G17 with about 4K of reliable rounds through it.
About 100 rounds ago I did the .25 trigger job.  Other than that the fire control group is stock.

I pressed the trigger to fire and the trigger traveled to the rear and stopped.  The gun did not fire.  I released my finger from the trigger but the trigger remained to the rear and did not reset.  I cycled the slide and the trigger reset itself.  I then fired another 100 rounds without issues.

What caused this and what needs to be changed so I can rely on this pistol again?

Did you feel the striker release at all?

This sounds like a misfire and not an issue with the gun. Bad round maybe? Especially after you say all other rounds fired with out issue.

The striker did not fall.  I have had misfires before and this felt nothing like those at all.

It didn't really feel like the trigger ever really broke.  It just got heavier and heavier until it mushed to a stop.

If you can, have an armorer check your engagement with the orange half-cover plate.  It sounds like your $.25 trigger job might have helped wear along the parts too much and now you're slipping off the striker.

My WAG: Did you pull the connector out or push it out with a tool? Sometimes a really bent connector can cause weird things to happen.

Do this. Never hurts to have someone look at it.

Does it pass the "tinkle test" where you take the slide off, push in the drop safety and shake it to hear the firing pin moving in the channel freely?
