As the title says, I just bought a Glock 21 for my 17yo son to use. It was a police trade in for $350 OTD. Looks hardly used, (blued barrel still looks untouched, Hardly a scratch on her) My question is... What or is there anything I should know about this glock with issues had? Pro's, Con's, Etc....  S#1ETYxxx

Fly,

I bought one of those Police trade in Glock 21s as well.  It needs nothing as far as I am concerned.  No issues whatsoever.  Enjoy!

Your price was better than mine, I think I gave $389 or something.  What was your source?

I bought it from a LGS. Its a friend of mine that that I've done plenty of business with and plenty of referals sent his way. Just a spur of the moment purchase. any idea what police force they came from?

How big is your LGS?

It could have been a traded in there or they snagged it from a larger trade in LE dealer.

He had 8 of them in stock.  close to consecutive numbers.  So unless there was a owner that many guns of the same model...

Its requires nothing. I would give it a good cleaning and that's it.

I have been thinking about a 21 for a few months now, I have been casually calling around pricing them, browsing the various classifieds, called a place today who had unissued police trades....I thought great how much?? Gen3s are $499, kind of takes away from the purpose of police trades in my mind, I realize they are supposedly unissued, but they are the same price as I can get a normal 21 any day of the week. If the guy would have said $449 or 459 I might have been on my way there now, I guess I am done with my mini rant.

I'm there with you. I guess they don't really want to sell them for that price.  I mean why would you pay close to full price for a presold gun when you can buy a confirmed brand new one?  Some stores still think there is a panic going on.

I have seen some pretty good deals on police trades in there before...but they threw me a curve with that one.

Still shoot my Gen 4 in bone stock form. Polished the trigger bar/sear/connector after about 200 rds to clean it up a bit. Safariland ALS and some spare mags. Night sights would be the only thing I'd change.

I would change out the old recoil spring for a new factory one and replace followers/springs on the magazines.  Or just shoot it and replace as needed since its a plinker.

That was a great buy . I have worn out a couple of recoil springs but they are great guns
