| I have a G17 now but am considering getting another 9mm Glock since high capacity mags are available again. I would probably just use the new Glock as a house gun. Is there any great difference between the G34 and G17 as far as accuracy or pointability goes ??? I use a Makarov for CCW so that is not a consideration. Thanks......... |
Don't worry about the hole. When I snagged my 35 years ago, I was concerned about debris getting in there and gumming up the works. Never happened yet. Thousands of rounds including carry in desert SW conditions (AZ) and slightly less hellish (Northern NM and Southern CO). The hole in the slide is a non-issue unless I find out it stress-fractures and spontaneously disassembles the slide a la ca. 80's Beretta 92-style. The longer slide IS conducive to better accuracy, but only after ~20-25M. Before that, don't sweat it. |
| Even for carry the extra inch isn't a big deal. I've got a Glock 34, but no 17. I like the lighter trigger, and it seems to point very well. I've been using it for IDPA and I really don't think I've lost anything my 1911, speed or accuracy wise. I'd honestly get the G34. I don't like the extended mag release. When I go to grab the gun off of a table (or out of anight stand), if I hit it too hard I can eject the mag. I also had to get used to not riding the extended slide release with my thumb. |
| I bought a g34 when they first came out. WOW loved it then fould a new g17l. Safe to say that when I had to start selling my guns I kept the 17L. 34 was awsome, but the 17L was just a bit better. I never really worry about concealment.. I use a shoulder holster or hip holster and I wear jackets that are long. |
