I have tried to use all my Google powers and have still not found a solid answer on this.

I have a Gen 2 Glock 17, I would like to take the internal parts from the frame (or lower) and place the Gen 2 parts into the frame (or lower) of a Gen 3 Glock 17

My buddy already has the spare frame so it would be little or no cost for the frame.

We were looking at doing it and realized on my Gen 2 Frame there is only one hole above the trigger, on the Gen 3 frame there are two holes above the trigger.

Would I be able to swap my parts (gen 2) over to the Gen 3 frame?

The best I could find on the interwebz was that I might have issues with the safety.

If anyone knows or has experience with this, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thank you.

Nope, the locking blocks are different...

What are you trying to accomplish here?

*ETA: thought you just wanted to swap the locking block... the trigger bar, trigger housing, connector, trigger pin, trigger housing pin, and slide lock should swap no problem.  Someone else can chime in on the G17 slide stop, it may be different.  Use your eyes and function test.  Otherwise if you were to send an old Gen2 in to Glock, they'd swap out all the internals with new 'Gen3' updated parts.  (Except for different locking block and extractor.)

Thanks for the reply, to explain my purpose, I would love to have a rail and mount a weapon light on my Glock when I am not concealed carrying.

Where in AZ are you?  (Just noticed...)

Ok, I reread everything - it all makes sense now.  You may be better off buying the parts you need to have 2 complete lowers - then just swap slides (please be safe) until you can afford an 'upper' for your spare ~$300 on eBay. No FFL required.

You may even want to shop for a G34 upper to mix things up.
