Hello Glock forum!
Long story short, I'm looking at a Glock 34. I have a 19 that I carry on/off duty and I love it, but I am hesitant to modify it too much. I'd like to start trying some pistol matches, and I see the Glock 34 is a popular choice. I guess what I'm looking for is the following: -if you have one, do you like it? -why did you buy one initially, and would you buy one again? -what (if any) modifications have you made, or would you recommend? -if you couldn't recommend the glock 34, what would you recommend instead? -how difficult are holsters, accessories, etc to find for the 34? - and lastly, a picture of your pistol/setup if you don't mind. Cheers, -VA |
I wanted a pistol for range/training/duty/CCW/game use. I had a G34 and G19 and decided to sell both and split the difference so I now have a G17 for everything and am quite happy. If I was at the top of my game I could make it pretty far in USPSA with a G17 but I'm holding the gun back instead of vice-versa. That's why I decided to pour all my trigger time into one pistol, if I make A class I guess I'll have to think about trying to CCW A G34. ![]() Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

-if you have one, do you like it? Yes. Very much so -why did you buy one initially, and would you buy one again? Bought one for putting holes in paper, and possibly competition. Turns out it has been used quite a bit (~20k rounds) for competition -what (if any) modifications have you made, or would you recommend? Dawson fiber optic front sight, $.25 trigger job (polishing up contact surfaces on the trigger and connector) -if you couldn't recommend the glock 34, what would you recommend instead? The G35 or 17. 35 is same just in .40, and the 17, well it just rocks -how difficult are holsters, accessories, etc to find for the 34? Not too difficult. Most holsters for the 17/22 will work with the 34, might just stick out the bottom a bit more. For range use this should not be an isse - and lastly, a picture of your pistol/setup if you don't mind. Don't have any pics, but my USPSA Production rig was the older Uncle Mikes kydex belt holster, Fobus belt slide mag pouches (will work with you 19 mags, also), and a Bianchi 1 1/2" duty type belt w/keepers. |
| I picked up a G34 last month. I have a G19 that I conceal and my duty weapon is a G22. Before I bought my G34 I was going to buy a G17. When I was going to purchase the 17 I realized that I was never going to conceal it and I wanted it for the home and for matches. That made me purchase the G34 instead and I am happy with my purchase. I got the Gen 4 because I really like the smaller grip on the Gen 4 vs the Gen 3. My G34 is still all factory. |

The G34 is my very favorite Glock for everything except concealed carry (G19 still gets the nod there). Liked it so much I got a second one... If the right deal comes along, I would not say no to a third. If I had it all to do over again, I would skip the 17, 17L, and 26 entirely and ALL of my 9mm Glocks would be 19s and 34s. YMMV. |
|
If it weren't for the G20 (and maybe the 19) the G34 would be my favorite Glock.
It shoots like you'd expect and hunts like a champ. Just under powered for the hogs around here. So, I have 4 G20's (one of 'em is on a Mech-Tech upper making the fierce 10mm carbine that I'm taking along on spring hog hunts this weekend). |

Yes, and I'm a die hard 1911 guy -why did you buy one initially, and would you buy one again? To build into a USPSA open class gun -what (if any) modifications have you made, or would you recommend? New slide, barrel, springs, Burris fast fire, compensator, ice mag well and grip force adaptor -if you couldn't recommend the glock 34, what would you recommend instead? -how difficult are holsters, accessories, etc to find for the 34? - and lastly, a picture of your pistol/setup if you don't mind. Only pic I have right now is in my avatar Cheers, -VA I have the 35 but it's the same gun in .40 cal. |

That's some good shooting.

I have a 34 I bought a couple of years ago... I haven't kept a strict count but I have to be getting close to 5,000 rounds through it. The mag well has had the shit beaten out of it by constant dry fire reloading practice, as well as USPSA matches that I've been shooting as often as possible (and now that the weather is warming up, increased practice at home). All I've done with it is put in a factory 3.5lb connector (which would come with yours anyway provided you don't buy a blue label gun), and a steel rear factory sight with a fiber optic front sight. I haven't changed any springs or anything. I tried an extended slide stop but I took it off after I locked the slide open by accident once. Few pics... Testing reloads (usually done at 15 yards, give or take a few feet) http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p505/arfcomaje/Guns/2013-09-05190058_zpsfd3a99e5.jpg The two at the left from 25 yards offhand (group on the right was rested around 15) http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p505/arfcomaje/Guns/2013-09-04201331_zpsf1269244.jpg Last time I actually cleaned it http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p505/arfcomaje/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20140212_165329_428_zpsv04vxvxv.jpg The beat up mag well http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p505/arfcomaje/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20140212_165340_890_zpsamyjzckk.jpg Bill drill at 50 yards (draw, six shots, time was 6.00 seconds) http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p505/arfcomaje/Guns/2014-03-30175819_zps2da7dc34.jpg Video (last night) |

-if you have one, do you like it? Yep, my favorite Glock for anything other than CCW (thought it CAN be concealed). -why did you buy one initially, and would you buy one again? It was cheap. After the first trip to the range, it became my favorite. I'd buy again even if it cost more. -what (if any) modifications have you made, or would you recommend? Sights are a must. If you really want to tinker with it and throw money at it, the Fulcrum Ultimate Kit trigger is really nice. -how difficult are holsters, accessories, etc to find for the 34? Everyone and their uncle makes holsters/accessories for these things. - and lastly, a picture of your pistol/setup if you don't mind. I don't have any pictures of mine since I swapped the sights and trigger, but it looks pretty normal - a G34 with Warren Sevigny sights and a Fulcrum trigger (black w/ red safety). |

I'm ready to buy a G34 Gen3 as well. Anyone know of a better deal than $600 with free shipping? Watch for one for sale by guns4usa1 on GunBroker. I got mine for $520.50 shipped. Sadly it will be here Monday and I am out of town until Thursday. My first multi-day work trip in almost 9 years and it has to be now I am anxiously waiting for it |

She gets lots of love! Stupid all metal gun boxes have been taking a toll on her though! Guys at work are like " why you need such a long gun man, it barely fits in those boxes". Me; " Policy states duty gun barrels may not exceed 5.5" Why don't people understand me? |
