Hello Glock forum!

Long story short, I'm looking at a Glock 34. I have a 19 that I carry on/off duty and I love it, but I am hesitant to modify it too much. I'd like to start trying some pistol matches, and I see the Glock 34 is a popular choice. I guess what I'm looking for is the following:
-if you have one, do you like it?
-why did you buy one initially, and would you buy one again?
-what (if any) modifications have you made, or would you recommend?
-if you couldn't recommend the glock 34, what would you recommend instead?
-how difficult are holsters, accessories, etc to find for the 34?
- and lastly, a picture of your pistol/setup if you don't mind.

Cheers,
-VA

I wanted a pistol for range/training/duty/CCW/game use. I had a G34 and G19 and decided to sell both and split the difference so I now have a G17 for everything and am quite happy. If I was at the top of my game I could make it pretty far in USPSA with a G17 but I'm holding the gun back instead of vice-versa. That's why I decided to pour all my trigger time into one pistol, if I make A class I guess I'll have to think about trying to CCW A G34.

I have one, love it.
I bought one because I wanted a gun to slowly turn in to a race gun for pistol matches.
Barrel, sights, pins, trigger, recoil spring for mods.
I couldn't imagine anything else that I would recommend.
Holsters, accessories, magazines, parts are very common and easily found.

KKM Precision stainless match barrel, Vogel trigger, Dawson Precision FO front/Flat black rear, stainless Gen3 recoil rod, stainless pins

Probably the gun I shoot the most now.

-if you have one, do you like it?   Yes.  Very much so
-why did you buy one initially, and would you buy one again?  Bought one for putting holes in paper, and possibly competition.  Turns out it has been used quite a bit (~20k rounds) for competition
-what (if any) modifications have you made, or would you recommend? Dawson fiber optic front sight, $.25 trigger job (polishing up contact surfaces on the trigger and connector)
-if you couldn't recommend the glock 34, what would you recommend instead? The G35 or 17.  35 is same just in .40, and the 17, well it just rocks
-how difficult are holsters, accessories, etc to find for the 34? Not too difficult.  Most holsters for the 17/22 will work with the 34, might just stick out the bottom a bit more.  For range use this should not be an isse
- and lastly, a picture of your pistol/setup if you don't mind.  Don't have any pics, but my USPSA Production rig was the older Uncle Mikes kydex belt holster, Fobus belt slide mag pouches (will work with you 19 mags, also), and a Bianchi 1 1/2" duty type belt w/keepers.

I have a gen3 34 with Ghost Rocket 3.5 and Warren Sevigny sights (plain black carry rear and fiber front). Finding stuff for it is pretty easy. I love it, glad I got it and would get it again. Never had a malfunction and it easy to shoot.

I picked up a G34 last month.  I have a G19 that I conceal and my duty weapon is a G22.  Before I bought my G34 I was going to buy a G17.  When I was going to purchase the 17 I realized that I was never going to conceal it and I wanted it for the home and for matches.  That made me purchase the G34 instead and I am happy with my purchase.  I got the Gen 4 because I really like the smaller grip on the Gen 4 vs the Gen 3.  My G34 is still all factory.

I wanted to love my gen4 34. It really has become just a longer G17 to me that I shoot no better. I actually seem to prefer the balance of a 17 a little more.

I always wanted a 17l or 34.  So I bought one (note blue label 34's come with standard connectors/springs not the - connector).  I have been carrying mine as my duty and primary off duty for 2 years.  No mods.

I'm a 30+ year USPSA competitor, shooting 1911s for approximately 25y... wish I had switched to a Glock earlier.... not as good a trigger as a 1911, and you need aftermarket sights... that said, utterly reliable so far, using both a 17 and currently a 34...my pistol is set up for 3 gun, and I shoot USPSA Limited minor, ... it has Heinie Slant Pro rear, and Dawson front... experts tell me I don't need a full length guide rod, and a 17# ISMI spring, but what the hell... I'm old and set in my ways ... regards Les,  Limited Master, L747

The G34 is my very favorite Glock for everything except concealed carry (G19 still gets the nod there).

Liked it so much I got a second one... If the right deal comes along, I would not say no to a third.

If I had it all to do over again,  I would skip the 17, 17L, and 26 entirely and ALL of my 9mm Glocks would be 19s and 34s.

YMMV.

If it weren't for the G20 (and maybe the 19) the G34 would be my favorite Glock.

It shoots like you'd expect and hunts like a champ. Just under powered for the hogs around here. So, I have 4 G20's (one of 'em is on a Mech-Tech upper making the fierce 10mm carbine that I'm taking along on spring hog hunts this weekend).

I have a 34 I bought a couple of years ago...  I haven't kept a strict count but I have to be getting close to 5,000 rounds through it.  The mag well has had the shit beaten out of it by constant dry fire reloading practice, as well as USPSA matches that I've been shooting as often as possible (and now that the weather is warming up, increased practice at home).

All I've done with it is put in a factory 3.5lb connector (which would come with yours anyway provided you don't buy a blue label gun), and a steel rear factory sight with a fiber optic front sight.   I haven't changed any springs or anything.  I tried an extended slide stop but I took it off after I locked the slide open by accident once.

Few pics...

Testing reloads (usually done at 15 yards, give or take a few feet)

The two at the left from 25 yards offhand (group on the right was rested around 15)

Last time I actually cleaned it

The beat up mag well

Bill drill at 50 yards (draw, six shots, time was 6.00 seconds)

What type of pistol matches? A 34 would be great for Production, but a 35 would give you more potential for growth as you could score for major if you decide to do Limited.

No, I love them both.  But the 34 is legal for some shooting sports where the 17L is too large (USPSA Production and IDPA) and the 34 is available in Gen 4.
