I owned a G3 Glock 19 for a period of two years but as hard as I tried the gun never meshed well with my hand, so inevitably I sold it. Come gen4 and the reduced grip in addition to the textured frame makes the Glock a dream to shoot for me. Since I still had a ton of accessories and mags left over from the previous G19 I decided to snatch another one up, to which the salesman behind the counter was putting these out on the shelf as I walked through the door.

I don't like buying things blind but at $619, twenty dollars more than a standard one, I decided to pick her up. Now they told me that this pistol was unique because Glock themselves actually finished this pistol in Nickle Boron instead of a third party, although I don't think that's correct as I've found zero info regarding Glock actually offering this from the factory.

I was wondering if there are any particular drawbacks to this finish? Again, I bought it blind without doing any research on it before hand. With everyone complaining about the gen4 finish flaking I figure it's probably better in those terms than a standard one.

So, was this a good deal or can these be had for any cheaper?

I think you did fine. I know CDNN had gen 3 NIBx guns for like $499, but that doesn't do you any good I'd you like the gen 4

I have a FailZero G17. I bought it in 2011, it's my favorite. Great shooter! I am goin to have my G19 coated by FailZero once I get the BTF issues ironed out.

No matter how guilty you feel for paying more than $610 for a Gen4 glock, just remember that poor saps like me live in a state where shot out, POS glocks from Pre-98 sell for $800+ because of their finite supply.

Fuck MA.

I'm hoping that since this is a newer manufactured pistol that it's immune from all the erratic extraction issues you hear so much about.

When people have their guns treated in NiBx is it just the slide that gets it? It appears to me that the barrel was also tinkered with on mine.

The NIB Glocks I have seen had both the slide and the barrel coated.

My fail zero has the slide, barrel and extractor coated. Had my old G26 NibXed when WMD first started out. I do not care for the finish as much as I like my FailZero gun, but I haven't had any problems with it.

WMD are the guys who applied the finish to this one. The extractor wasn't coated but the offset of black on silver gives it a sleek look and they're not difficult to replace if it comes to it.

I finally shot it today and it was a dream; huge improvement over the gen3 that I previously owned. The only problems I had was with the chick I brought with me and limp wristing, but after I got her sorted out it ran like a champ! Sucker really wipes down nice, wish I could say the same thing about the TLR-1HL I had attached to it.

There have been some 17s recently that were coated.

I sold one last week to a friend and the barrel was much shinier than the slide.

I know my RTF2 21SF NiBX was done at WMD since it had the WMD "card" inside the box and there's a little NiBX marker on the slide.

The standard black extractors look good on those slides too.

Just go find a threaded black barrel to drop in so it look cool like this:

Sleek looking pistol there, especially with the threaded barrel! I was thinking about picking up an Octane 45 HD to go along with my Sparrow, I think I've finally found the motivation I needed.

My barrel is as exactly as you described, real shiny. I thought it was stainless when I first saw it.
