| What are the best sights to put on an edc gun? |

My favorite are ameriglo i-dot pro sights. I have them on most all of my glocks. How has the black finish worn? (pics?) I have some operator pros whose finish wore very quickly at the sharp edge... the sight picture is no longer crisp. For THIS reason I'm afraid to go back to ameriglo. None of my Meps or Triji's have had this issue. Also, the sight paint wore out quickly. Not cool. |

In general, this is what the majority says around here:
Best for the money: Glock factory sights for $57 installed Forum favorite night sights: Trijicon HDs and Ameriglo Hackathorns Forum favorite fiber optic sights: Warren Tactical or Dawson Precision There are a few others that stand out, but most people prefer these. We could make this a sticky and cut out 50% of the threads in this subforum...if anyone read the stickies.

Heinie straight eights. They have a rear gap you can drive a truck through. Nice for fighting. http://www.brownells.com/userdocs/skus/p_394000041_1.jpg I wish I had gotten those now. I went to glock and had NS installed. Inexpensive, but they are not working for me. I need something with a bigger groove at the rear. |

I've come to like the XS sights. Standard dot, not the golfball Big Dots. I've got them on my carry/IDPA/multigun M&P and they're a lot faster for me than standard 3-dots. They're not for everyone, and some people can't get used to them, but they work great for me. They make a double tritium version for Glocks. http://cdn2.armslist.com/sites/armslist/uploads/posts/2012/09/06/549399_01_xs_big_dot_sights_g23_640.jpg I didn't realize XS was making a "non golf ball" sight. I might have to give those a try. Always like the concept of the V shaped rear with a dot front, but I hated the enormous front sight. |

Even with the standard dots, some complain that you're giving up precision, but if I'm not rushing, I'm shooting 0's on IDPA silhouettes at 50yd and pie plate poppers at about the same distances with my MP45. It just takes a little getting used to. I could do the same thing with good standard sights, but I wasn't as fast on target, near or far, as with the XS sights. |
