(Mods, delete this if we'd rather just have everything in the regular pic thread)

I figure with someone posting a new "look what I did" thread nearly everyday maybe it would be nice to have a pic and discussion thread dedicated to home-brew and custom shop stippling and frame mods.

I'll start with what I did this afternoon. Started with Dremel removal of finger grooves and undercut the trigger guard. Then stippled just the front strap and "finger-rest" areas.  I tried to progress the aggressiveness of the stippling the closer I got to the center of the front strap area. Looks far from professional (especially under the trigger guard) but I'm in love with the new feel.

LOL, it's not that hideous of a job, is it?

That just means this thread can get nothing but better.

since this is not GD, i'll merely ad that I support the concept of a consolidated thread and I'm happy to pay someone hundreds of dollars to professionally stiple, mill, refinish or otherwise alter my firearms.

OP - did you melt down the texture after grinding the finger grooves? Or just grind them away? Stipple over?

...looks good!

I just ground down the factory texture along with the grooves which left a nice flat surface all around to stipple on. It was my first time stippling, so I know it doesn't look great, but fit, feel and function turned out exactly as desired. I've got 1911s if I want to enter beauty contests

I have never seen a magwell like that, it looks like it would funnel a brick up in there.

Does it affect your grip since it is flared out that much ?

DIY or professionally done?

I did it. Flattened the factory texture with a flat tip on a wood burner. Texture was done with a ultra fine pointed tip.

This looks damn good, I'm glad I like the drip on my Gen4, i'd hate to have to try and do this and butcher my frame.

Here are a couple Glocks from MOD 1 in Lexington, KY.  The G34 is my 3 gun pistol, with the finger grooves removed, undercut trigger guard, full stipple, and JP magwell.

The G19 is my carry gun- finger grooves removed, undercut trigger, and front and rear stipple.

Personally owned.  Not a ton of departments around my neck of the woods that issue duty weapons.  I'm not sure I would work for one that did to be honest.

Have you gotten any of the new G42s in yet to work on? I'd be interested in seeing what you can do on one.

Interestingly enough I haven't even had anyone ask about doing one yet.  For what I could tell about the one I messed around with is it can be textured, and reduced, albeit a slight reduction.  Not much else to do to one.
