I'm sure this is well known but I have a gen 3 glock 27 and gen 3 glock 22.
The finish on the 27 is like a rough parkerized finish and on the 22 it's shiny. Why are there different finishes?

Thanks

The shiny one is a Teflon like coating. Depending on how old the park looking finish is, it may be actual parkerization. If it's newer I have no idea what it is, but I like it.

Because Glock has over the years, experimented with different types of nitration works (treatment) and different types of finish (which give the slide-barrel diferent colours, textures).

Glocks have never been parked. All are tennifer coatings. There is still all kinds of variations coming out. Some say the USA ones are shiney. I can take a picture of the local Glock case with 30 different models and you will be able to pick out 30 different finish tones. It's probably caused by the amount of time the slide was in the finishing process

Tennifer is a metal treatment, not a finish. I believe the old finishes were parkerization on top of the Tennifer.

I purchased a USA made gen 4 Glock 22 and it is noticeably shinier and slicker than other Glocks I have seen. Im not sure what the deal is but finger prints show up more and the slide is a lot harder to get a hold of than previous model Glocks.

Yes this is true of some recent USA glocks... i got one like that about 2 weeks ago.  Haven't had any trouble getting a hold of it but it looks pretty shiny/slick.

I think its just exaggerated for me because I have been carrying an M&P and the scalloped serrations could probably get a firm hold on a single piece of paper. The issue for me has been getting a firm grip on the front end of the gun to do a press check. Im sure once the recoil spring gets broken in it won't be too much of an issue.
