I recently purchased a new Gen 4 Glock 33 at Riley’s Sport Shop in Hookset, New Hampshire. It’s a blue label gun and it came with three 10-round magazines. I also purchased two 15-round magazines to carry as backups. I shot it for the first time today. I have three other Glocks, all Gen 3s, and the different texture on the Gen 4 frame is very noticeable. I haven’t installed any of the four adjustable back straps yet, but they do seem to make a difference in the feel of the gun.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v619/Supersig357/IMG_1865_zps08dacd6b.jpg I shot about 75 rounds of Speer RHT 100 grain frangible and 50 rounds of 125 grain Gold Dot ammunition slow-fire into the pictured target at 25 feet. The first shot punched dead center through target, and the subsequent rounds went more or less where I wanted them. The accuracy seems acceptable considering the small nature of the pistol, although I admit that I started flinching after 100 rounds or so. The recoil was stout on the frangible ammo and harsh with the Gold Dot. The Gold Dot is LOUD; one of the range officers stuck his head in and asked who was shooting a cannon. I did a bit of faster shooting, again at 25 feet, on a larger target. I found that the rounds were impacting 2-3 inches low and to the left due to excessive trigger smash/flinch. Its going to take a bit of time getting used to this trigger as I have carried a Sig P229/P239 for the last 12 years with a traditional short reset DA/SA trigger. The ejection was so-so with the slower RHT rounds. The cases were bouncing up into the brim of my hat. It was much more positive with the Gold Dot, and these cases sailed over my right shoulder. All told, I fired about 300 rounds through it today 50/50 RHT/Gold Dot with only one issue. One of the 15-round mags is locking the slide to the rear with three rounds left in the magazine. I attribute this to the pressure I’m exerting on the mag sticking out the bottom. It’s disappointing, because I picked this pistol due to the interchangeability with the larger mags. I not finished testing yet, as I’ll shoot at least 500 rounds through the gun before I qualify and carry it. |

A G33 has been my EDC for 12 years. Most accurate handgun I've ever shot. An absolutely fabulous combination of gun and ammunition.
Shorter than a Chief's Special. Lighter than a PPK. Goes bang every time, always. Over 2 1/2 Foot Tons of energy in the palm of your hand. Incredibly accurate. |

I've carried a .357 SIG duty gun since 2002. I'm sold on the caliber. I've never experienced a FTF in over 35,000 practice rounds fired. I had one bad primer during qualification at FLETC FITP (at 25 yards) and a couple of FTE due to a broken extractor. Otherwise it's been perfect.
I chose the Glock over other competitive options for the weight, simplicity and price. I can buy two of these for the price of one P224. |
| I've been intrigued by the .357 SIG. I cruise EE frequently looking for a OEM .357 SIG barrel for my G23 but have yet to see one since I've been looking. If I had been smart I would have done the reverse and gotten a G32. I've seen a number of .40 barrels already on EE. Though in my area I'd have had to probably do some searching to find a G32. |
