I want a basic SL TLR light for my Glocks and a Sig 229... I know nothing about these, can I purchase one to fit both pistols or are there adaptors to deal with?  I do not need a laser, basic light for the bedside gun, primary 229 and travel with the G21, 19 or 30S..

Thanks,

They come with the adapters.  It's a matter of a small key to swap for the glock rail vs the mil rail.

I would buy the HL.  Amazing light.

IBTP

I'd just go TLR-1 then. Should fit your needs rather nicely.

I see  Brightflashlights has the TLR1 HL for  $120 shipped, in the EE section...I looked at a TLR HL today at my local surplus store, $175 plus tax.  The light was bright, got me to thinking I would like to have one, which prompted my original question.

Yes, the HL

I just upgraded my rifle and Glock lights with the new HL.  It is the best light on the market.  Got em for $120 shipped off eBay.  I put one on my AR and took off a Streamlight Protac HL 600 lumen just for the sake of creating more space on the gun.  Small light vs. long flashlight.  Never really understood why people pay so much more for Surefire.

I would go with the regular tlr-1. The HL is too bright for my tastes.

Wrong.  The hotspot/center of the beam is only slightly brighter.  The advantage is in the considerably larger "splash" area, which gives you the ability to see an entire room with a brief flick of the switch.  Much greater situational awareness and the ability to use the light for briefer periods to gain that awareness.  The HL is the way to go.

Because I had a stream light tlr1 break sitting in my safe. 6 month old light, just quit working one day when I pulled my G17 out of the safe. Never could get streamlight to fix it.

I own SEVERAL SureFires. My original E2D EDC for 2 years had its clicky tail cap fail. One call to SureFire had a new one on the way, no questions asked and they were very apologetic. I now only buy Inforce or SureFire.

If anyone from streamlight CS is reading this and wants to replace my tlr1, I would be glad to give them another shot, but not on my dime.

Sorry to hear of your trouble with SL.  I've never had any quality issues with SL, so I can't vouch for their CS in that area.  I can say however that I have both Surefire and SL lights, and find the quality to be equal.  Still have two Stingers that are about 20 years old now working on the original caps and bulbs.  That was probably their greatest product over the years.  Also have carried their M3 tactical lights for about the same amount of time until recently upgrading them to the TLR1-HL's.

They are both just as good in my experience, but with SL being sometimes half the price.

I have the TLR1s and use it on both my G19 and my P228R with the Glock insert. No need to change inserts at all, at least when you have the standard Sig rail. Hope that answers your question as far as the interchangeability goes.

I didn't know this.  OP, if you're not married to the TLR series, check out the Inforce APL.  That thing can be installed and removed in 1 second, (literally) with no tools so you could swap it between the two pistols in no-time.

Streamlight replaced a TLR3 that I bought almost immediately when they were first released. The electronics inside must have failed or something. They sent be a brand new one right away no questions asked.

I think their CS was excellent
