Friend has a 17 and a 19 and he says one of them(not sure which) locks the slide back while racking empty, no mags.
He said he wasn't riding the slide lock. I'm gonna try and go pick it up and see what the prob is. Any thoughts on this? I looked through all 17 pages here in Glockland, no help. I don't have Glocks so i'm not up to speed on their problems and deficiencies. |

Thank you. This will give me somewhere to start looking. I'm going to pick it up sometime this week and will get back to this thread then if we need more help. Easiest way to check is to remove the slide and lift up on the slide lock. It should snap back down, not stay up or not move. If not, your spring is installed wrong, or it's broken. |

Why should it matter? It's not rocket science. He'll get experience doing it. I'd rather tinker with stuff so I know how they work rather then give the problem to another to fix for me & be clueless when it goes down.
OP youtube some videos on installing the springs & Glock tear down. |

He doesn't know the mechanics of guns and only has a couple. I actually sold him the gun a year or 2 ago. If it doesn't work, I'll buy it back. I've had several Glocks but i like different handguns. Trying not to get banned here. |

If you sold it to him, it's obviously defective and you should offer to reimburse him for 50% of the price he paid for it!
Now have a used Glock that needs to be assembled correct at the least, and a new slide stop installed at the most Win, win if you ask me. ~g |

Slide stop and gun are functioning correctly. He was hitting the slide stop with his thumb possibly because the 19 is shorter in the grip than the 17, his hand seemed to ride higher. A common issue, when shooting. Although, this is the first I've heard of someone unknowingly activating the slide stop lever while manually manipulating the slide.

^this..... is he left handed? I can't see a right hand shooter doing this while racking the slide..... ~g I think he is RHanded by the way he was handling the gun but not totally sure. He doesn't shoot at all, i told him I would try to get him and his wife to the range. |
