All of my Glocks are 9mm. If I buy a G23 Gen 3 does it use the same frame as the 19? And can I exchange the complete slides between the 19 and 23?

Same frame.

Buy a 23, sell the 19, then buy a conversion barrel to convert the 23 to shoot 9mm.  Then if you get bored of all that buy a 32 barrel and you can shoot 357sig out out of the 23.

Thanks For answering the question Jamie. I want an OD 19 but found a great deal on a 23 OD so my plan is to swap the slides from my existing black 19 and the 23 OD. I'll just keep the .40 also since I don't have any in the collection.

The ejector is different, but people use conversion barrels without changing them.   I can't remember off the top of my head if anything else is unique to each caliber.

Because the 9mm barrel is a smaller outside diameter than the .40 barrel, it will fit on a 23 frame, the barrel will be loose  in the slide a little. If you just want to look cool it is one thing. The 23 frame will take a conversion barrel for 9mm or .357 Sig.  There is a difference between a shooter and kid...

It's crazy to buy a Gen 3 G-23 when the Gen 4 is so much improved.

The Gen 4 fixes were primarily for the .40 Glocks.

9mm functions fine in a 23 with a conversion barrel, the spring is ok, I never had an issue with an ejector.you need 9mm magazines though. As for .40 and .357 Sig. they are the same base. The new .40 mags will work with .357 Sig, some of the older ones won't. .357 Sig mags work fine with .40. The follower is different than the old style.

I like my gen 3 - 23.

But I traded a kahr for it.

If I was buying a compact it would be a gen 2 - 19

If your 9mms are post 2002, then they have the .40 frame.

Yes, there's an active thread about this.   You can either buy a 9mm conversion barrel or a complete slide.  A used 9mm slide might be the cheaper route to go.  I did the exact opposite.  I have 19 that I bought a 23 slide for.

LOL yes they were.  The recoil spring assembly changes were to fix known issues with the Glock .40s.

The simplest and cheapest way is buy a G-23 and get a Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrel and 9mm mags. I shot over a thousand rounds of 9mm in my gen 3 G23 with the conversion barrel and G19 mags without a single hickup. I also have .357sig conversion barrel and the AA .22lr conversion for the same G23.

Picture of the gen 3 G23 with conversions:

The issue of lazy ass cops not changing it out when needed.

The GEN3 23 went 18,500 rounds before its first stoppage during the 1998 FBI tests and other than that silly light issue, the GEN2/3 .40 Glocks are one of, if not the, most reliable auto-loading handgun ever.

Not to mention the vastly higher quality construction of pre-2009 examples.

The .40 Glocks are designed around the 9mm.  The Gen 3s and earlier use the same recoil springs as the 9mm.  They are already lite in the slide.  The Gen 4's are much more heavily sprung and are much more controlable.

Put a 9mm ejector assembly in the OD23 frame, put complete 19 slide assembly on OD23 frame. Load 9mm mags, insert into pistol, and shoot. Simple as that.

I got mine at CTD over a year ago, had to wait for them to go back in stock, I have 40-9, 40-357Sig and a 40, I prefer real rifling
