So my father in laws calls me about 10 min ago and says he took his piece to the range today and after his first mag, the slide locked back like normal, but when he put the second mag in, the slide automatically engaged without him intentionally doing it and it happened ever mag after that. He lives 2000 miles away, so i cant help him, other than take it apart, clean it and try it out again. What y'all think is the issue?

Mine do that if I slam home a mag.  I don't consider it a problem.

Both my Glocks do that if you slam the mag in.

Some people think it's a "feature".

Normal?
Happens with all 3 of my Grocks, I like it.

As far as I'm concerned it's a plus feature for a defensive carry handgun, which all of mine are.

Usual disclaimers apply. I did not sleep at a Holiday Inn last night.

I'd have him, or someone who's more comfortable with the technical aspects of a glock, like an armorer, check the slide stop spring. I had Slide issues with a G22 a couple of years ago and it ended up being as simple of a fix as that.

Best of Luck

For some people.

Try this.... clear the pistol, lock the slide back and hold trigger guard from the front with the muzzle pointing at yourself (make a fist with your finger through the trigger guard is the easiest way).   Hold the gun at an angle and tap the back edge of the grip on a table.  The slide will close if you do it at the right angle, and you don't have to hit it as hard as you might think.

That is essentially what he is doing by slamming a full mag in.

Not an issue, this is normal operation for a Glock. Some do it, some don't, but it's no cause for concern.

Beware though with a 33rd mag a round might not be stripped off the mag

Why would a 33 round mag make a difference?

It's called "autoforwarding"

Google it.

Feature, And I like it. In a real life or death situation I would want it to auto slam forward. You may panic and forget to rack the slide closed.
