All,

Can anyone tell me the trigger length for the following glock models? Say from the face of the trigger to the back of the grip under the beavertail.

G17 gen 3
G17 gen 4 with small & medium backstraps
G19 gen 3 (same as G17?)
G19 gen 4 with small & medium backstraps (same as G17?)

Purpose:
I have a gen 2 G17 and small hands. A slightly shorter reach would be great. My M&P's fit very well, just trying to duplicate without reconstructing.

Thanks

I don't have those measurements, but the Gen 3 trigger reach is the same as the Gen 2.  All Gen 1-3 9/40/.357 Glocks have the same trigger reach.  The curve of the backstrap and spacing of finger grooves are different between the 17 and 19 so one might feel like it fits a bit better, but it's not a shorter trigger reach.  I believe the Gen 4 with no backstrap added is 2mm smaller than the Gen 3 and with the medium backstrap is the same as the Gen 3.  I have small hands and have no problems with the Gen 3 17 and 19.  Hope that helps.

Russell,

Thanks for the info. I think ultimately I will try to trade my gen 2 for a 4.

I suppose i could trade for a gen 3 and do a grip reduction. I just have reservations about altering a gen 2 frame.

Thanks again

I love the gen 4's, so I'd consider that a good trade.

The last poster was correct, using the backstraps you can adjust by 2mm  (none is 2mm smaller than the third gen, medium is equal to the third gen, large is 2mm bigger than the third gen).

So 2mm is the rate of adjustment, good info. Thanks!

Seems hard to find a trade, which is odd because I've seen post after post about how people don't like their finger bumps.

They are sought after on forums (here and Glocktalk) but a lot of people just think they're older and don't want them.

I'd either get a grip reduction done on your Gen 2 or sell/trade it for a Gen 4.  I don't see the point in trading it for a Gen 3 and then doing a grip reduction on the Gen 3, unless you want the rail for a light.  Before doing that try renting a Gen 4 or finding a friend with one to try.  See how much of a difference the smaller grip makes.

You could try a WTT on the EE for a Gen 4, but you'd probably have to throw in some cash since your Gen 2 is older.

I have it posted in the trade section.

The reason for a gen 3 is that I would feel, I don't know if guilty is the right word but I wouldn't feel right altering it. I'm no purist by any stretch but it seems like people like the gen 2's. I just need to find one with a gen 3 or 4 who "hates the finger grooves" to trade with.

Trading or selling my gen 2 would keep a gen 2 in circulation and make somebody happy.
