Does anyone have any information on when/if a generation 4 variation of the Glock 30S will be available? I can't believe that they would come out with a brand new gun and put it on a gen 3 frame, especially since the gen 4 30 is available.

I'm wondering the same thing...  probably when they run out of Gen 3 frames...

Screw a gen 4. Show me a Glock 30s in a gen 3 decent price and I will buy it right now.

That's because the GEN3 is a better seller.

I agree-

Gen 3 is the best.

To each his own. The gen 4 grip is far superior.

It's built on an SF frame, so there's no difference.

The difference is the grip texture.

I prefer the larger mag button.  All else equal, I'd take that over the other gen 4 features.

Ok. Thanks to people like yourself, there are still Gen 3's to be had.

I must admit I like the Gen 4 grip texture a little better.

When I see a Gen 4 G30S I plan to grab it.

I spoke to a Glock tecky the other day and they have no plans on making a 30S Gen 4 anytime soon.  I just picked up a 30S today with factory night sites for about $560 + tax.  I would love to put it on a gen 4 frame.

This. Other than the slimmer slide, the frames are interchangeable.

Considering that they make a Gen 4 30 it really is kind of a baffling decision.  There are other models that use both frames.

So I'm in the same boat as I was before they had the 30S....     Wanted a 36 slide on a 30 frame...  had to buy two guns.   Now I want a 30S slide on a gen 4 30 frame... still gotta buy two guns.  Damn.

I already have a G36.  When my G30 Gen4 comes in, if I decide I want a G30s, I will put my G36 slide on the G30 frame and have a G30s Gen4.

Notice I said "if" I decide I want a G30s.  I will probably try the combo just to see if I like it,  If I do, I will pick up a G30s Gen4 whenever they decide to produce them and then get rid of the G36.

I got mine from Gallery of Guns, when they had like 30 of them a few weeks back... lasted like three days. Shipped to my FFL, with all the fees taken care of, $619.

I wanted one for off-duty carry, but really wasn't worried about getting one (planned to do it later this year or early next because I also want to get a Ruger SR1911 and a SIG P938 SAS in the same group). However, once I saw them in stock, I jumped on it. Really like the gun, but sitting at my FFL until my pistol permits come back (thanks NJ). Got some extra ten round magazines, as well as a few 13 rounders with those A&G magazine spacers... as well as the few modifications I plan on doing once I get the gun (connector, smooth trigger, extended slide release).

Being a Gen 3 doesn't bother me. If it was available in Gen 4, great, but wasn't a deal breaker... as long as the slide is thinner than the 30, I'm happy.

Played with a Gen 4 frame and a 30S Slide yesterday...felt very good.  I don't need another gun but it was a very interesting configuration

Bump  -

Does anyone have an official answer?

No official answer, is the official answer.

Spoke with a Glock rep a month ago, he hadn't heard anything about switching the 30s to the gen4 platform.

Wouldn't even consider owning a sf/gen3 if the model was available as a gen4!

YMMV

I think maybe its just marketing. Glock will prolly come out with the 30s on the 4th gen frame when the current 30s sales slow down. Just my guess

I am sure they will Gen4 it.... They have done the G20 and G29 which are not their best sellers so I'm sure the G30S will get done.

there is not enough benefit in a gen4 30s over a gen4 30 so I imagine you wont be seeing that soon if at all. I will take the gen4 30 all day long if the choice existed

Using that logic, they shouldn't have made the Gen 3 30S then either.
