Do all Gen 4's come with a beaver tail back strap?
Or just certain ones?

Thanks

My 19 left the factory at the end of February and didn't come with them.

I'm curious what models are shipping with them and when they started.

Ive yet to see one in person.
All the gen4's ive seen around me dont have them.
Maybe the dealers are plucking them out of the box

I have a Gen4 G35 that was test fired on 3/12/2013 and it has two, one for each blackstrap size.

The newer stuff should have them, my G17 has them and I got it a couple months ago.  I'd suggest just looking in the box before buying them to make sure until you find one with them.

Just got a NIB G27 FDE today, and it did come with 4 backstraps, 2 with beavertails.

I was told yesterday by Glock that the 19's just started shipping with the BT backstrap this past week.

If you just missed it, then you have to call them and order a $16 backstrap kit which comes with all 4 backstraps (med, med BT, large, large BT).

It appears the G17 and other large frame guns have been shipping with them for at least a couple of weeks now.

But if you don't get them with your gun, you have to order them.  They will not ship them to you for free.

My Gen4 G19 is dated 3/17/2013 and came with the blackstraps; 2 beavertails.

My Gen4 with an August 2012 test fire date does not have them.

Hope this doesn't come across as a hijack;

But while we are on the subject, is it true that in order for your Glock to accept the new beavertails, it needs a 'notch' in the frame?

(as in, they make a special gen4 frame, for use with the beavertails?)

I saw this posted somewhere, but I'm not sure if it's true.

(if it is indeed true, are there any pics floating around?)

No, the instructions for the beavertail says that the "nose" on the back top of the grip is not necessary, just an extra attachment point.

Figures...   just missed it.

Oh well, I doubt I'd use them anyway.   The 19 without a backstrap feels perfect for me.

Anybody  got a link or can post a pic of them please?

Google "Glock factory beaver tail," Glock showed them off at a SHOT show not too long ago.

You can buy the factory Beavertail backstraps in stock here:

http://www.secamus.com/shop/Eds-Public-Safety/Glock-Beavertail-Backstrap-Kit.html

Just make sure you order the correct set for your pistol. There is one set that fits the full size 9mm, 40, and 357 sig and a different set that fits the .45, 10mm

I put a Gen 4 G19 in layaway yesterday. It had April 1, 2013 as the test fire date on the casing.

I didn't actually look in the box as I thought it was the same crap that always comes in them. I will check next week when I am back by there if they are in the box. I had never heard about this until today.

Can the beavertail back strap be modified to mimic the Grip Force Adapter?

My 19 was test fired 3/4/2013 and did not include the beaver tail back straps.

I'm sure it could with a dremel and a steady hand, but I doubt it would be on there as securely as it was originally.

Saw some gen 4 17's yesterday with a April 4th test fire date and they both had beaver tail back straps. 17's were consecutive serial numbers.
