Let me start by saying that I've owned 6 Glock 19's, 1 27, 1 23, 1 29, and 3 17's in the past 5 years.  All ran flawlessly, literally without a single malfunction and I have and continue to think Glocks are (generally speaking) the greatest handguns that can be purchased for defensive purposes.
With that said I have never bothered to call Glock with an issue before so I never dealt with their customer service department.  I purchased a new Glock 36 (slimline single stack 45, because I live in NY......) and it came with two mags, loader, case blah blah standard crap.  I have put exactly 500 rounds through the gun, some standard pressure, some +p, some hollowpoint others fmj.  Simply put the gun runs 100% with one of the mags, but has serious issues with the other mag.  For example on 4 occasions the follower jammed inside the mag when there were either two or three rounds remaining in the mag.  Other issues were double feeds, and a few stove pipes.  Again this was only with the one mag, I had 2 other shooters use the gun with identical results of success and failure based on which mag was being used.
I called Glock and explained the issue and the guy said that I have to pay to send them the magazine to examine, and that he couldnt give me an estimate on time for a replacement being sent.  I find this unnaceptable because in dealing with Smith and Wesson and Ruger both companies were fantastic to deal with whenever I had a customer service issue.  Not only that they were able to estimate a return time frame, and when my ruger was in arizona over their estimated time they sent me two extra magazines as an apology.
Im not looking for an apology from Glock, shit happens I get that.  In this case though I am asking to be able to swap out my magazine that is factory defective for a new one, the guy on the phone did everything but leave me to believe this was going to happen.  Also being this G36 is my carry gun I now have to run at least 300 rounds through the gun and mag to feel comfortable carrying it which is far from cheap these days.  All in all, im not satisfied with Glock.

I had an issue' with one of the 10 round mag for a G20SF.  The front 'tab' on the mag was cracked and not allowing the last round to feed.  I did not call Glock customer service, but just sent them the mag with a note explaining the issue.  Being that I live out of town and only have a PO box, I received a call from Glock customer service asking for a mailing address that was not a PO box.  I gave them may work address and three days later I received a new 10 round mag.
No complaints here with there service.

Open your box and paperwork. Find the warranty paperwork. Read it. It isn't as spectular as you may think.

I have had several Glocks reworked for recalls. Never needed warranty.

OP needs to make his point in three concise sentences. Nobody reads a fucking wall of text these days. OP probably wonders why his corporate emails are regularly ignored.

/Owned more glocks than OP has socks..........

They want to inspect the defective mag before replacing it?  Seems reasonable to me.

Otherwise I suspect they'd be inundated with "defective mag" claims.

I might agree with you beam if smith and Wesson hadn't treated me so fairly.  Also most other gun company's send u a shipping label and they pay the cost to investigate their theoretically defective product before replacement.   Even Taurus has a lifetime warranty.....Taurus.

I've had S&W and Glock pay shipping both ways on firearms in need of warranty service, so I'd rank them equally in that regard, but I wouldn't expect either to cover shipping for just a mag.

In fact, I typically shitcan problematic mags and replace them without considering involving the manufacturer.

I might agree if glock  36 mags weren't ubsurdly expensive and hard to find.   I also have never had mag issue outside of a kimber in 57 handguns.....

ill say this, with out a doubt glock CS is pure shit. Your lucky they offered to look at yours. I had the exact same problem and the guy on the other end told me this - our bread and butter is government sales not individual. Ill sale you another mag but will not replace it then hung up on me. True story. I have gone to buying smith and Wesson M&P and had wonderful CS with them. I put 10,000 rounds through my M&P when I first got it in 6 months. I figured I would go ahead and replace all the springs. I called smith and asked if I could order from them. Smith at no cost sent me every spring for the gun and included 5 magazine rebuild kits. I own two glocks and will never buy another. im happy to say my department has switched to the M&P 40

I have had PERFECT customer service from Glock, 20 years worth.
Wait 2 weeks and call them back, ask if your problem is common. Ask them to send you a new follower ( offer to purchase a spare ?)
The customer service people have been getting hammered for the last 6 months, maybe  you got a person on a bad day, it happens.

Send Glock the magazine with a note stating the problem.  If the follower is stuck, leave it that way.  I have sent them several magazines over the years to include recently.  They have either rebuilt them to like new condition, or replaced them.  You probably won'tfind any gun company who would just send You a magazine without getting the bad one back these days.  If they just sent them out without getting one back to look at, everyone would becalling claiming their 10 hicaps don't work and want new ones.  think about it.  It shouldn't cost but a couple dollars to mail it in, and they will send it back on their dime.  All gun companys are swamped right now.  Everyone wants their baby checked.  They usually have very fast turn around times on mags ect.

Good Luck

I've had the same experience.

I had one of the early 21SFs with the ambidextrous magazine release that liked to fall apart.   I put up with it for awhile but decided it was time to send it in.   Guy on the phone said I had to pay to send the gun in and I couldn't swap it for a gen 4, even after offering to pay the difference.  Wouldn't even tell me if I could have a gun with a matching serial number.   Find on Glocktalk after getting my replacement that a couple other guys swapped theirs for gen 4 guns without paying... apparently talking to someone else.

Another time they wouldn't ship me parts because they apparently didn't believe I was a Glock armorer.   I guess their list was incomplete at the time.   I reupped a few months ago and haven't had a reason to call them in awhile.

I would go ahead and buy a replacement magazine to 1) Make sure that one of the originals is truly "bad". 2) have a second mag that you can vet before you send one of the originals off.

Honestly, ANY suspect detachable magazine NEEDS to be replaced. You can still use it for range drills (where a malf drill might actually be desirable) but I would never carry ANY mag that you ever had ANY reason to doubt.

I have no idea how much a G36 mag costs nowadays but the cost of shipping the magazine back to Glock (x2 if they find nothing wrong) might not make economic sense. Just something to think about
