Hello and thank you for you're time and help. I have a lnib glock 19 3rd generation with mepro night sights and 4 factory glock 15rd mags. A guy wants to trade me a new unfired generation 4 glock 19 with stock sights. Would you should I do it. Either way why should I do it or not. Thanks again for you're time and help

Personally i wouldn't do it, it is practically the same gun. No need to trade off the one you have with night sights for one that doesn't have any. I haven't found any real advantage that the gen 4 has over the 3.

I would, I love the big gen 4 mag release button.  But making the trade would be contingent on getting the Gen 4 plus some cash to even things out re: the night sights.

Just IMHO.

No point in a straight up trade. I like my gen 4, but that deal sounds a little lop sided. He needs to throw in some cash.

I wouldn't.  I prefer the gen3.  But even the sights alone would not be an even trade.  Not to mention the whole possibility of brass to face  I get it every now again with my gen4 26, but never have with my gen3 19 (2006 date).

I like the gen 4 enough I'd say go for it if you take the mags out of the equation.

I would also agree with this.

You have to factor  in that Gen4s retail for more than the Gen3s plus your Gen 3 is technically "used" while the Gen 4 is new.  If you take the mags out of it like AJE suggested, it is about an even trade, all things considered.

It really comes down to - what is it worth to you?
