I have heard people say that Glocks are one of the easiest guns to take down and strip.  BULLSHIT! Its simple IF and only IF you can get the god damn slide off first.  Whomever at glock invinted those 2 little, tiny taps you have to pull down only after you can hold the slide back in the correct position is a FUCKING DOUCHE BAG!  I love my Glock and its reliability, but for fuck sake, the take down blows donkey dick.  I have an HK that is just as reliable, durable and more accurate than my Glock and it it takes a fraction of a second to strip it.  German engineers = intelligent, practical.  Austrian engineers = fuckwad morons who want to pretend they are German.

Okay I feel a little better now.

I've tried that and a million other variations.  Nothing makes it easy.

FINALLY.  SUCCESS!   My original thoughts on the matter still stand.  Glock needs to take a look at HK for some help on this.
3/23/2013 8:34:06 PM EDT

And don't forget that it needs to be decocked before the slide will come off.

No they don't.

It gets easier when you become familiar with your equipment.

Hey now....this is my cry baby parade.  Glock needs to change.

My 19, 22, and 17 slides come off pretty easy. My father in laws 22 is a bitch to remove.

really, come on
3/23/2013 9:00:48 PM EDT
[#9]
It's pretty simple when held like the picture above. If that doesn't do it you can also push the end of the barrel/slide against a flat surface and pull down on the tabs.
3/23/2013 9:35:56 PM EDT
[#10]
You barely have to move it at all.   Once I was shown that grip, it doesn't even register on the scale as any kind of inconvenience.   I can't think of a firearm that is easier to take down.

You're probably trying to move it too far, rather than not far enough...  just a guess.   You only need to move it to clear the lip on the slide lock.

More like you need to get an HK.
My 7 yr old daughter can break down my Glocks

It's you not the gun.

How the fuck can you strip a HK but not a Glock?

The USP must be held the same way to line up the take down notch on the slide to pull the slide stop out.

3/24/2013 3:24:21 AM EDT
[#15]
I've never thought of it as a problem to use both thumbs to hold down the "tiny taps", while some else removes the slide.
3/24/2013 3:56:49 AM EDT
[#16]
I popped the slide right off mine without reading the manual or seeing how to do it.  Easy Peasy.

That said, my 92F is the easiest gun to get the slide off of that I've ever seen.

Because HK doesn't have these 2 tiny tabs to pull down like Glock.  Line up the plainly visable notch and push out the pin.  Done.  Glock, you have to guess how far to pull the slide back and then try to manipulate the 2 miniture tabs.  Pain in the ass.

No, HK has designed multiple "Pain in the ass" guns to service.....................

Seriously?  I've got a G29, which is one of the most stiffly-sprung Glocks, and I can have the slide off with barrel and spring out in under 5 seconds...
3/24/2013 5:53:07 AM EDT
[#22]
Get an M&P. Breakdown is a no-brainer!
You really want to see a pain in the ass? Try breaking down and reassembling a Ruger MK!
3/24/2013 5:58:25 AM EDT
[#23]
Beretta 92's are simple as heck to field strip.  Glocks are for that matter once you learn the "Glock grip".

The only pistol that makes me start cussing is a Ruger Mk II, not the take down part but the put back together part.

Ruger P94's and similar models are tricky in that you have to flip a lever or some transaction first in the frame before you can take it apart

You people cant be fucking serious.  A retarded monkey could break down a Glock.

The defect is in the OP, not the Glock.  With very little training it is possible to field strip the pistol in about 3-5 seconds max.  If you've got enough dexterity to pull on your pud, you ought to be able to manage this.
3/24/2013 7:07:59 AM EDT
[#28]
Seriously OP - cowboy up and grow a pair

My kid could break them down at 10 years old without a problem.  Obviously you just didnt know what you were doing and now feel silly

3/24/2013 7:17:29 AM EDT
[#29]
Common sense helps. It appears that is lacking.

Clear the weapon, pull the trigger, grab the tabs, pull the slide back like in the picture, push the slide off the frame. It literally takes 2 seconds to take down a Glock.

If you still cannot manage that, watch some YouTube video's of children taking down Glocks.

[#30]
OP, if you are having this much trouble breaking down a Glock, I seriously question the fact that you should own a gun.  Geesh.

Spend $8.99 on an extended slide stop release. My 21SF was a pain to strip, now it's a breeze.

How exactly does an extended slid stop release help to break down a Glock 21?

[#41]
You can probably find it cheaper, but this solves the problem completely:

FNH FNS 9mm for one...

I did it on the first try, and I've only owned a Glock for a little over a month.

(I did watch a youtube instructional video before I attempted it though)

It takes longer to remove the mag and clear Glocks then it does to strip it.  It is all in the finger action!

Sorry, I have man sized fingers.  Maybe if I had child size fingers, or woman hands then it would be easier.  I shoot my glock more than any other gun, it is my carry piece.  The take down tabs suck.
3/25/2013 7:54:09 AM EDT
[#50]
You shoot and carry it more than anything, but you cannot field strip it?

Yeah right.

Sell the glock...it is way to complicated for you.
