I'm looking for an aftermarket barrel for my G20.  I have a Lone Wolf conversion barrel for my G22 and have no issues.  I understand that case support is important with the 10mm, especially with hot ammo, and the LW barrel may not be as good as the KKM or Storm Lake.  Anyone have experience to share?

KKM and don't look back...

ETA - so I don't come off as snobby.  They all work well for better chamber support from other threads on here about it.  Some have had some issues with chambers not being properly finished.  Needing to get sent back for polishing, but I don't remember if it was LW or SL.  Not many KKM issues to be found out there on the web... Which is why I went with them.

I have a KKM barrel and have been very happy with it. I have had some issues with a 40 LW barrel that would make me think twice about buying another LW.

I'm one of those guys.  Mine was a Storm Lake 10mm ported barrel with a rough chamber.  they fixed it, no questions asked, and it's in great shape now, but it shouldn't have gotten out of the factory that way in the first place.  Even so, I don't hold it against them.  Anybody can have a bad part slip through now and then, and they handled it very professionally, IMO.  I have another Storm Lake barrel for my XD-40 that has been fine.

I don't know anything about KKM from personal experience, but they seem have a good reputation.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm leaning towards the KKM.  I was warned by an ammo manufacturer that the LW 10mm barrels may create some issues due to the tighter chamber and case support similar to the Glock oem barrel.  I'm not sure if LW has changed their design.

Which Generation G20 do you have?

I was under the impression that the Gen 3 and Gen 4 have fixed the case support issues so full power 10mm loads are fine in the OEM barrel.

Is it still a problem?

My G20 has an early 2012 make date, and I was still getting smilies with full-power Underwood ammo in the stock barrel.  I think they did improve the chamber support from the earlier barrels, but my Storm Lake barrel still had considerably more.

What are smilies?

This is a smiley (a pretty severe one).  They're not always that bad, but any near case failure like this is an indicator that something needs to be changed before the gun blows up.

My G20 is a 2012.   I have no overpressure signs with any "hot" ammo, including Underwood.  I want  an aftermarket barrel primarily to shoot lead.

I believe the case support is adequate with the OEM barrel: however the LW barrel has a tighter chamber.  The few pics I have seen of the LW barrel show case head support similar to the Glock barrel.  My concern is that a tight chamber+very hot ammo+less than 100%case support=unsafe conditions?  The oem barrel has greater tolerances in the chamber.  In essence, the glock barrel may produce smileys but still be more tolerant to slight over-presure issues.  I'm not so sure the LW barrel will have similar results.  Any overpressure may likely be directed at the shooter's face?

KKM here and I shoot Buffalo Bore, Double Tap, etc with no issues noted so far.  Very accurate!

Oh ok. I've never seen that. I run a G20C with stock barrel. Never had an issue with simlies.

Ordered a KKM barrel on 4/14 and was told it would ship later in the week or following week.   I called today and was told barrels just came back from heat treating and my order may not ship out with this batch.  WTF!

I wish I would have gone with KKM. My LW chamber is so freaking tight that it had to be "massaged" to reliably shoot lead and I'm not the only one who's had to. FWIW, 180gr loads that clock 1400fps from my 5.15" LW barrel do not have any smiles when shot from the stock bbl. Gun is late 2011/early 2012.

Bar-Sto makes excellent Glock barrels.  You can also get one in 40SW for your 20.

I've been considering the Bar-Sto barrel as well.   If the KKM doesn't ship by tomorrow, I may cancel the order and go with them.  I left a message at KKM last night, and have not heard from them yet.  They apparently aren't worried about CS.

I put a 6" KKM into my gen 3 G20.  The brass comes out in much better shape for reloading and it runs 100%

I had time this weekend to run 200 rounds through the new KKM barrel.  Accuracy is great but reliability is horrible.  About half of my rounds were not feeding.  I'm running a 22lb. captured spring/ss rod with Underwood ammo.  The 22lb spring is 100% with the stock barrel.

I have an older Gen 3 G20sf and a 6" LW barrel.  The case head support on the LW barrel is much better than the factory barrel.

I have had no issues with my LW barrel but have heard of people that have.

I load some pretty hot hand loads and have had no case issues so far.

Put me down as satisfied LW barrel owner.

The KKM barrels are tight, you may need to very lightly polish it.

Ive been considering a 10mm ,but what is the recoil like compared to a .40 & a .45?

Depends on who made the ammo.

Most of the commercial stuff is downloaded to .40s&w type velocities and ends up being a very soft shooter in a Glock built for 10mm. And on the other side of the coin you have places like Buffalo Bore, Underwood, etc. that load 10mm to its full potential which, IMO, ends up being very snappy in comparison to .40s&w. Its still fun to shoot the hot stuff for sure as its not very punishing (other then on your wallet) but it will let you know if your grip on the gun isn't up to par.
