So I've been bitten twice. Once by the Glock bug to buy a new Gen 4 Glock 19 and then second by the slide of that 19 yesterday. After 150 rounds, I have 2 lovely railroad tracks on the web of my hand. I am curious as to opinions on the aftermarket beavertail adapters or if anyone has ideas on when the factory beavertail backstraps may be coming. Thanks.

the grip force adaptor is awsome. it changes the profile of your grip a bit and has a built in beaver tail. makes my 19 feel very natural in my hand.

Yep, the grip force adapter will take care of that.

Thanks for the input. I have the medium backstrap on the G19 and am wondering if adding a beavertail will make the grip even wider. As in should I get the beavertail adapter fir the no backstrap setting or the medium backstrap? I don't want to add so much that it changes my trigger reach.

A gen 4 gripforce adapter will snap on and give you the same grip width as the medium backstrap.

I love the Gripforce adapter.

It's not so much the beavertail I love about, although it is nice, but the way it changes the grip angle.

I have one on both of my Glocks.

It's a good thing Glock has started shipping factory beavertails.

19/23 sized comes should be along shortly.

why do Glocks need beaver tails?
I've shot glocks for 20 years and never had this issue?
Is this just a Gen4 thing?

big fat hands and a high grip can get you bitten by the Glock slide. I have had Glocks since 1990 and it is my only complaint with the gun. Doesnt happen all the time, but when I perform a very aggressive high grip on the gun and present from holster my hand can be up over the back of the frame.

Adding the Grip Force Adapter eliminates this problem.

I've heard they just randomly started coming with new gen 4's recently.  Not sure if you can get them separate yet.

No, It's a Glock thing.

That's scarring, not an open wound.
