I have a gen 2 g19 w/ austrian proof marks. Serial number HS4xx. I am thinking about stippling the grip and cerakoting the slide. Is there anything special about this g19 or is it like every other gen2 out there?

HS would be a very early one. I would hesitate to mess with one so early. they are a semi collectors item, where as gen 3s a more readily available.

I have a June '89 that someone rounded the trigger guard on.

It's your call. I'd guess they will increase in value as the time goes on. More so if they are not messed with. However I don't plan on ever selling mine so I don't really care.

I have an "HB" G19.  I agree with keeping it correct.   I'm sure you could sell it and make enough to buy a nice Gen 3 to customize.   I myself would pay a fair price for another Gen 2....

I enjoy it how it is. Currently it is my carry gun. I have a vickers mag release, extended slide stop, g17 trigger assembly, truglo TFOs, and the original 2 peice recoil spring assembly in it. I have all the original parts still. I think i'll keep it and hold out for a late model gen 2.

This is my first gen 2 and i like it. I've had 3 gen 3 g19s, they are nice, but i prefer the gen 2.

Leave it as is, unless the grip is wearing down, I would not touch it.  When  the grip gets smooth and your grip purchase is not as firm as you would like, I would have it professionaly stippled by coldborecustom.com.
