I'm thinking about picking up a G34 frame and putting together a custom shooting piece.  Would putting an aftermarket slide assembly on the G34 frame disqualify me from participating in shooting competitions?  IPSC, IDPA, GSSF ect?

Thanks,
JH

If you're going to swap the top end, why spend the extra money on a G34?  Buy a used G17 and put the new upper on it.  The only difference in the lowers is the trigger connector (unless it's a blue label 34 - they use the standard connector just like the 17).  Just a thought that might save you a few bucks.
