I just don't get it....
Took my 1911 to the range.  Love the pistol.  It is very smooth.   A friend and I were shooting steel plates. (6 plate racks)  Keep in mind we are shooting for accuracy AND speed.  Each trying to out do the other.  Neither one of us are world class, but we have a good time.

1911
10 yards 8, 9, 8 shots clearing the rack  Consecutively
15 yards 9, 9, 10 with a reload.  Of course I never won one time.

I took out my G34. (at about 30% faster pace) I am finally at about 500 rounds with this pistol.
10 yards - 7, 7 and 6 shots to clear the rack.
15 yards - 7, 7 and 6 shots to clear the rack.
20 yards - 7 and 7
Never lost or was even close one time.
I have been carrying a G19 for a while now..... I wonder why....

My friend says, "Explain to me again why you like the 1911?"  The 1911 is a classic. It is extremely accurate, but recoil and target reacquisition are problems for me.

I can't wait for USPSA next spring.

Anyway, we had a good day.  Next time we'll get the rifles out.  He rocks with an AR.  Will probably mop the floor with me.

Sounds like a fun time! I shoot Glock better than 1911, but I've got a shit ton more trigger time on Glock.

I'm with the OP! Love Glocks and I just shoot them better. The only gun I had better groupings with (which was a very small difference) was the CZ P-07. Had about the best SA trigger I've ever felt. I really like how 1911s look and agree that they are a great enthusiast piece, I just can't shoot them well. The grips are so thin on them that it makes me nuts. I have large hands (XL depending on glove brand) so I find that slim tiny grip kind of obnoxious to grip.

This is interesting to me and if any here could help me I would appreciate it. I have shot for fun and competatively for many years, only for fun since my first "official" retirement 10 years ago. I shoot for fun now and bought my first Glock a couple of months ago. I got a Gen4 G22, I had a .22 LR conversion barrel for that configuration and that entered into my decision. I like the gun and have since purchased a Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel for it along with some 9mm Mags and got a SS guide rod and 17 lb spring for the 9mm barrel. It shoots very reliably but the groups were to the right so I had my friendly Glock Armorer nieghbor LEO move the rear sight for me using his specila rear sight pusher. The groups are not what I am used to either with a revolver or my favorites, my 1911's and my BHP. The groups are almost twice the size I am used to and I am thinking it may be because of the trigger (different/lousy). I have added a Grip Force grip adaptor to help with the funky European grip style/angle requiring a bent wrist to get the sights to point where they should. Glocks do "point" differently than american handguns but the Grip Force Adaptor is a cheap way to fix that other than having the grip redone and the hump removed, which is what several of the shooters at my club have done for close to a couple of hundred dollars per gun. I plan on ordering a competiton spring kit and a 3.5 connector to help with the trigger. What else can you suggest other than practice, which I will do, to shrink the groupo size to be more like the groups I get from revolvers and my 1911's and BHP?..Thanks for your help and I do appreciate it. I think the gun is pretty good for carry because of it's reliability and wieght and am planning on getting (have ordered) a blue label Gen4 G30 as soon as my dealer can get one. They were supposed to be in last week but did not show up, any day now I hope. I will be getting a Lone Wolf barrel for that as well so I can shoot lead out of it. I will most likely just leave the Lone Wolf barrel in the G30 all the time if it is as good at the 9mm conversion barrel. I almost wish they would sell the guns without barrels for less money and then I could just buy a Lone Wolf barrel for them and be done with it. My thoughts are Glock makes a pretty good defensive handgun but not so good of a competition/target hangun. I hope my ideas change the more I shoot it but this the first time it has taken so long to get group sizes down to what I like and expect...Thanks again and Merry CHRISTmas....<><....:)

Well... The 3.5 connector will help. IMO.

I would say try a G34 if you really want shoot competion, but my G19 shoots just as well.

It sounds like you have a lot of stuff going on, barrels, grip angle changers, etc.   I found that the more I shoot the less I miss the mark....
I believe in the KISS principle.  Which Glock fairly well follows.  It is a simple machine.  Load and shoot.  I am not going to change barrels again, unless I have to start shooting lead.

Good luck, but really think the more you practice the better your groups will be.
