Ran my new Storm Lake G22 to 9mm conversion barrel today... with .40 magazines,  in one of my Gen 3 G22s.     It ran great!   I was very surprised there were no issues using .40 mags feeding 9mm.

I was wondering about this, saw the conversion barrel today. Just picked up a G22. Thought about using the .40 barrel for SD, and a 9mm barrel for competition shooting. Would just have to also have an extra spring.

Went with the Storm Lake barrel for $120, total.   Nothing else was changed except the ammo, which was Winchester white box 115gr 9mm.

Very good! That's awesome that you didn't have to change anything but the barrel and ammo, not even mags.

A thought that I had recently...it seems some of the current production Glock 9mms are having brass to the face issues. Current production .40s don't seem to have this problem. I wondered if a current production .40 converted to 9mm could be a way to avoid BTF. How was the ejection of 9mm out of your converted G22? Any to the face? How consistent?

Ejection was not as strong/positive as when using 40 ammo.   I had 18 rounds of 9mm loaded in the standard unmodified 15 round 40 mags.      I ran it hard, fast, and had brass pouring out of it.    No failures of any kind were experienced.   BUT, ejection was not overwhelmingly strong either.

I am retired .mil (combat medic, engineer officer, infantry officer, and recon team lead).   I've been covered in everything imaginable, including hot brass, while shooting.   I handle it well.  But, I know it really bothers some people.   I have a pair of AMT 380 Backup guns that forcefully toss hot brass right back between the eyes consistently.     I remember wearing a baseball cap in the past and that really seemed to eliminate any problems.   ( I also have a pair of Kel Tec P3ATs and a pair of Ruger LCPs that don't do that.   The AMTs are retired.)   I have always carried at least a 380 on me.

Very cool! I shot my Gen 4 G22 with a lone wolf 9mm barreltoday for the first time but i also used a 9mm recoil spring and G17 magazines. Out of 200 rounds (mostly all double taps) i got hit in the head twice. I think that the more i shoot it the less that it will be an issue. Very impressed that you used 40 SW magazines. i will have to try that with mine.
