Just picked up my first firearm, a 3rd Gen Glock 17.  I have been shooting before, but always with other gun owners.  Finally got around to buying one of my own.  Hopefully the first of many.  I am not real familiar with the different brands of ammo.  What would you guys recommend for someone to do some practice with at the range?

Thanks!

Winchester 100rnd value pack of 115 grain 9mm

Aka "winchester white box" aka WWB

Its a great range ammo. Commonly found at walmart or gun stores.

Personal protection ammo requires more actual research by you.

It'll eat anything..buy what's cheap.  Since I don't reload, I find Blazer aluminum to be perfectly suitable for range use.

Congrats!

You can also get Federal Champion relatively cheap at Walmart. The Glocks eat everything.

Congrats on your 17. I have 2 of them and I love them both...unconditionally

A Glock 17 will shoot the cheapest ammo you can buy. I use Silver Bear or Blazer aluminum case. 100's of rounds. No failures.

Excellent first pistol!!

I shoot lots of the cheap stuff: Brown Bear, Wolf, Aguila. Zero problems.

Cool. My Glock 17 was my first handgun almost 20 years ago. Still love it

same here, G17 was my first handgun!
It will eat anything but I stay with brass case ammo, the russian stuff is really dirty.
Buy whatever is cheap and shoot the heck out of it. My glocks seem to like 124gr best, accuracy wise that is.
Watch out for Glock bite

Great choice. I still have my first pistol, a Glock 17, that I bought more than 20 years ago. It still shoots great.

Good choice. It took me almost 20 years and over 100 handguns to finally get a Glock 17, that was about 10-12 years ago. I've had about 15 diffrent Glocks,  Now I have 2 G17's that do just about everything I need in  a handgun.

Yep, it's not ammo picky. My 17 gen3 has well over 6K and no stoppages.
