I have the opportunity to purchase a new G17 Gen4 in FDE,  but I need to decide soon. I'm well aware of the brass to the face issue,  but the way I look at it it can be fixed (if it happens at all) by replacing parts.

Should I go for it?

At this point you will not know if it's good or not till you buy & shoot it.   It's a crap shoot.

It'll be fine.

Are the Gen4s still ammo sensitive due to the double recoil spring?

I've never seen it. And I know of no one with a Gen4 that has had the issue. I have only heard about it on the Internet. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but any problem is going to be louder on the Internet.

I've had a Gen4 G17 for about a year and a half now. I had a few stovepipes when it was new. I sent it back to Glock for the newest RSA and the 30274 ejector. I've put about 8000 rounds through it since then without a single stoppage or malfunction of any kind.
I'd say they're good to go.

Since this FDE G17 is fresh off the assembly line, will it have the 30274 ejector?

Buy it.

If it's not to your liking, you should be able to get your money back, particularly when this round of FDE's dry up.

ETA: Yes, it should have the newest ejector.

I just bought a FDE Gen4 G17 this morning.
Well find out in a few days how it is.

For the same price as black Gen4's I couldnt pass it up ($550).
Ive always wanted a G17, but hate Black (Glocks are ugly, color helps)

I was planning on waiting a year or until its more assured that extraction/ejection issues are fixed, but I jumped on the FDE this time because who knows if Lipsey's will keep getting them.

I have run about 300 rounds through my G17Gen4 of different grains, JHP and FMJ, cheap and expensive.

no trouble, no FTF or FTE at all.

I did get a few casings ejected on top of my head last time out.  I dissasembled and cleaned it well and will run some more through it ths week.

Had mine since late April. I put 600 or more through it and no FTF, failure to eject or extract, or brass in the face. Best bet if you want to put things in you favor is check the ejector for the #30274, the RSA for the # 420 in clockwise order ( I know those are the correct #'s, maybe not the correct order ). I believe the extractor should also have a 1 or 3 stamped on it, check some or the past threads for the correct number, if you are able to disassemble the entire slide. I just bought a Gen 4 G 19, but haven't taken it to the range yet and personally I'm not that worried about any problems.

I bought an FDE gen4 19, No problems.

Then I went to buy a gen4 17 and did not see any FDE so I got a regular black one.

I fired off between 60 and 100 rounds through it last Sunday just for a function test and It was flawless so far.

My GF got her G19 Gen 4 off layaway yesterday.  We took it out and shot 200+ rounds with only one hitting her in the chest.  Since she is a complete noob I really sure she limp wristed it on that shot.  Ejection was very good despite her noobness.

I was very impressed with the Gen 4 to the point of being tempted to get a G19 Gen 4 my self even though I have a Gen 3 already.

I bought the G17 Gen4 FDE today. My dealer got 7 of them in yesterday from Lipseys. Apparently the FDE batch release date of October was false. The color, to me anyways, seems to change depending on the lighting. Sometimes it looks FDE, OD, or brown. My G17 has a Glock born on date (spent case from Glock) of August 8, 2012. 14 days old! It does have the 30274 ejector. Can't wait to shoot her!

Picked up my FDE G17 today.
Test fire date of 8-08-2012
Range tomorrow.
Well see how it goes, im expecting everything will be fine, but wont be surprised if it throws brass in my face.

If all goes well its probably gonna replace my FS M&P9 as my go to range gun.

Id post pics, but it looks the same as the post above me.
