I have a Glock 23 it's the only firearm I have in .40 I was thinking of selling it but have no idea what a 3rd gen Glock 23 is worth it's in great to like new condition has probably 200 rounds through it and factor glock fixed sights. The only reason I want to sell it is I'm trying to reduce the number of different calibers I have. I would like to replace it with a Glock 19. I know I can get a 9mm barrel or conversion for it and some 9mm magazines but I would like to keep it 100% Glock. Can I buy a Factory G-19 slide and barrel or find someone who would want to trade there G-19 barrel and slide for my G-23 barrel and slide would this work? What are my options should I just sell it and buy a G-19? Do a 9mm conversion? I'm not really wanting to switch between 9mm and .40 I'm thinking if I sell or convert the G-23 to 9mm than I can sell all my .40 ammo and buy more 9mm or another handgun. I'm all ears what would you do?

IMO, if you don't want to switch back and forth between 9mm and 40, then find someone who wants to buy your G23 and buy a 19 instead.  I've been looking into 9mm conversion barrels for my G22, and it seems that they all offer "pretty good" reliability, but not to the level of a factory 9mm gun.  That's fine for Savin money plinking at the range, but I wouldn't want to carry a converted gun unless I had no other option.

ETA: in addition to the slide and all of its components, the 9mm and 40 have different ejectors. Yeah, you could replace that too, but even if you found someone willing to swap top halves and trigger assemblies with you, I think it'd be simpler just to swap the whole gun.

If you can find somebody selling a G19 complete upper, that'll work.  I'd probably just get a 9mm conversion barrel from Lonewolf and use G19 mags.  I don't care if my Glocks are "all Glock" or not.  I use a variety of aftermarket barrels in my Glocks.

I'd sell it and buy a G19...Or try to trade it for one locally.

Any idea what I should ask for my G-23? I'm going to guess it should be worth the same as a G-19 of equal condition. I really wish I could find someone who wants to trade barrel and slide and ejector. That way I don't have to go through a FFL but if I could just buy the factory G-19 parts then sell the used .40 barrel and slide. The G-23 was a gift from my dad so I guess I figure if I keep the frame than it's still the same gun even if I swap calibers and then I could sell all my .40 ammo stash to use for other stuff.  Besides I have a G-17 and G-26 so a G-19 would fit in well.

Would a 3rd gen and 4th gen G23 have the same slide and barrel? When the change from 3rd to 4th gen was it just the frame that changed or did Glock change the slide and other parts as well?

So far as I know, 4th gen slides/frames are not swappable onto 3rd gen guns. The changes to the recoil spring assembly preclude it.
