So I ordered one of the Aim surplus trade in 19s
Aim add And it came in totally non functional. It was missing the takedown and spring… the slide literally fell off the frame… So I called Aim. The nice man in the customer Service Department told me they were out of stock so they could give me my money back or I could call Glock and, since they almost never check serial numbers, see if they would fix it… OK So I called Glock and talked with one of their service techs. He laughed and told me to box up the pistol along with a note explaining the whole story and send it in. they will rebuild the pistol for free. He also wanted to know who I spoke with at Aim… I didn’t get the fellow’s name but I wish I had. Long story short. F for Aim A+ for Glock. I’ll update when I get the pistol home. |

From Aim"s add
The Pistols are in solid shape as the pictures show, just a little holster wear. Mechanically in excellent shape
At BEST they have crappy QC At worst, they misrepresented 'gunsmith specials' as functioning firearms hoping that a reputable company would clean up their mess. OK D- |

Send Bryan an email. This doesn't sound like AIM's normal customer service. They have been great over the years. I'm surprised to hear anything less than top notch service. What wasn't "top notch service"?..............AIM customer service offered OP a complete refund. What else would you expect AIM to do?

Well boo hoo. The fact that the gun didnt function has zero to do with AIM's customer service response. I'm sure AIM has the time to test fire each and every used firearm that comes through their shop. OP bought a friggin USED gun.....it didn't work. That happens even with new guns. AIM offered to refund his $$$$.....thats all they could do. OP wants to shit on a stand up company and expects a pity party.

The OP got it exactly right. F for AIM, A for Glock.

Negative. No pity party hear just the facts as they happened. when I buy a used gun that is advertised as Mechanically in excellent shape I expect the company that is doing the selling to as least make sure the slide doesn't fall the fuck off when the gun points muzzle down.
I've done a LOT of business with AIM and I will continue to do business with them. on this transaction, their quality control dep dropped the ball. when I asked them about it, they offered me a refund, or get Glock to clean up their bad sale. Anyway you slice it. AIM screwed this one up. Like I said, I'll continue to do business with them in the future but they used a strike. Edit to add: BTW I never said I had a problem with Aims Customer Service, it was their Quality Control I questioned. |
|
Who else had physical control of it before you got it? Did it go to a FFL and do you trust that everyone in that FFL wouldn't "borrow" a part or two off a used firearm?
It's also possible that if it was cocked and a mag was installed, it may not have been immediately noticeable, especially if the person shipping it wasn't a "gun guy." They offered to refund you your money without a quibble, and many places would just say it's used so tough luck. |
| Nothing to contribute right now, but I ordered two of these. I hope mine are ok. I got these mostly for the sake of having a couple good gen2 G19s to put away, so I was hoping they would be serviceable. It might be a week before I can pick mine up, but I'll report back when I get them. |

You would be hard pressed to find a bigger supporter of AIM on this sight. And yes, offering a refund is great and goes beyond what many others would do. BUT, sending it out in the condition the OP claims it was received is not good. He isn't bitching about slide wear or a problem that came up when firing. The problem was obvious and should have been caught. |
|
I will send you a call tag tomorrow and issue a refund, we must have missed the function problem. But we stand behind what we sell and will send a return label and issue a refund. I wish we could test fire every gun that comes through the door but we do not get to. We get these from police departments as working firearms, they must have slipped one past us

| I got one too from AIM, picked it up today, pretty heavy finish wear but functional and I love it. Night sights too but the front sight vial is broken or missing. Good deal from Aim. Came with brand new Gen 4 magazine. Feels like an 8 lb trigger pull but maybe it's 5.5 and I'm just used to my M&P's |

Might be worth checking for these parts. |

I look forward to doing business with them again! Good stuff. I've always had great service and enjoyed great prices at AIM. Over the years have purchased surplus rifles, pistols, ammo...very pleased with them. |
| You will probably be glad in the end. I bought a well used G19 from and individual and was shooting it quite a bit. It started failing to extract and eject. I called Glock and they said send it in. When I got it back it was a new gun. The only parts I got back that I sent them were the slide and barrel. They replaced all the small parts and gave me a new frame plus and mag all for FREE. |

They made a mistake and offered you a refund. What is your definition of 'good customer service"? OP never complained about "customer service". He complained that AIM Surplus sent him a pistol, that they advertised as being in "excellent" mechanical shape, that was obviously nonfunctional. They didn't send him what he'd paid for. Actually, he's pretty happy with the customer service provided by Bryan at AIM. OP seems satisfied. |

I really like the looks of those pistols, but for not much more money, can't u get a brand new Glock? vmax84 from AIM, a new Gen3 is $499 and a new Gen 4 is $539. Saved me at least $130. I wouldn't spend this much but that's just me... I can buy a nib Gen3 or Gen4 (blue label) for $393+tax |

Let me guess: did the serial number start with an "E"? It starts with an "F" Interesting. It's a big deal to replace a frame. I suspected that your serial started with an "E" because there was a run of pistols made between September 2001 and May 2002 that had a manufacturing defect wherein a rear slide rail could break off the frame. Glock never published a public list of affected serial numbers, but they generally had serial prefixes of "EKA" through "EVR", "GSSF", and "USA" ("USA" prefixes were from the American Heroes commemoratives). The serial number range is general because some affected serials fall outside that range. Glock replaced those frames and marked the new ones with a "1" in front of the letters. So a frame with a number of "EKA123" would be replaced with "1EKA123". |

Sorry that you have a problem with folks telling the truth but no amount of insulting me is going to change the truth. In this instance the QC was not up to the standard that I expect from Aim. In this instance Bryan and the quality control folks did everything necessary to make it right. That is the way it is. |

What about serial number WS 5XX US?? If I understand what you're asking, you're fine concerning the frame recall. The affected commemorative guns started their serial numbers with "USA". Your pistol was probably manufactured around roughly August 1991. However, your pistol IS affected by another parts upgrade! It's possible that it already received the upgraded parts (even probable since these were department guns), but you should check. The old parts were black/phosphate. The new parts are silver/nickel. If you still have the old parts, call Glock at 770-432-1202. 1992, 6 part Upgrade GLOCK, INC. Technical Bulletin #920403 April 1, 1992 Glock, Inc. announces a production change of the firing pin safety system. This new firing pin safety system has been installed in all production Glock pistols since November, 1991. A voluntary upgrade is being offered to maintain the Glock tradition of ensuring that all of our pistoils are up to the latest standards in 21st century Glock technology. Most importantly, the components of the new firing pin safety system are not interchangable with the components of the old system and Glock will always strive towards maintaining this feature of interchangability while working to ensure future interchangability. The upgraded firing pin safety system consists of: the firing pin, firing pin safety, the extractor, the spring loaded bearing and the trigger bar. The upgraded system is applicable only to Glock pistols with the following serial number ranges : Glock 17 - alpha prefixes up to and including XG* Glock 19 - alpha prefixes through XK* Glock 20 - alpha prefixes through WX* Glock 21 - alpha prefixes through ALD* Glock 22 - alpha prefixes through YB* Glock 23 - alpha prefixes through SL* The upgraded firing pin safety has a new surface finish making it nearly 100% saltwater corrosion resistant. Also, after rigorous and extensive testing, the new system proves to be more durable and has a longer useful life. Here, as alwyas, Glock is working toward maintianing its standard of perfection. * These serial number ranges come from the newest (05.04.11) Glock Armorer's Manual U.S. Addendum and differ from the original technical service bulletin by being more inclusive. |

It is slightly more compact and dead nuts reliable. The grip is like a wet bar of soap, but I will stipple it to my liking. If money is an issue, mine came with dim steel night sights. A new glock requires metal sights for additional money. While the sights on my 2nd gen are not the best, at least they don't scrape off from holstering. I am glad AIM is importing these reliable glocks. ETA: Mine has a heavy ass police trigger. It needs to swapped out for a normal spring. |

UPDATE:
with Bryan's help and the input from the good folks at Glock, I sent the pistol in to Glock for service. the reason the parts were missing was a broken frame. Glock replaced all the small parts, and the frame with a gen 3 at no charge. The only parts that came back to me original are the slide and barrel. they even got rid of the cop trigger. All in all, With the help of Bryan, the folks at AIM's CS department and Glock, this turned out Great. I WILL be doing business with AIM and Glock again in the near future. |
