Title says it all, after shooting my friends 17 for years, and looking at alot of weapons in both 9mm and .40 S&W (S&W M&P, Ruger SR lineup, G17/22/23) i decided on the Glock 22 and ordered today, it will have 3 mags and "aging" night sight, could not get a certainty on Mepro or trijicons.... so we will see.... my first gun, though i have decent experience shooting others weapons, it was time to take it to the next level and with 2 kids in the house I found myself feeling more and more insecure about what options I really had at my disposal should they become threatened in some manner.
Tips, tricks, suggestions, pointers? |

Quoted: Title says it all? What's "LOE"???? Law Officer of Enforcement? Don't hate just cause im dyslexic ![]() Having not become intimately familiar with the interior of a Glock, will it be relatively evident if i have the OEM 3rd gen recoil assemble or the newer ( supposedly better) 4th gen components? As well, I know on my friends G17 he had a different slid release that stick out more and is not so flush, what weapon is that OEM equipment on or is there a common part #, i really preffered his slide release to the OEM flat/flush mounted one when I had them side by side...

The G22 is a great gun. Consider taking a formal, professional handgun training class with it. The extended slide release comes standard on the G34 and G35. They can be purchased separately just about anywhere that sells Glock parts. Here's an option you might want to consider for having the gun secured with the kids at home, but quickly accessible when you need it. It just took cam lock and a few seconds with a drill. At night you can unlock it and leave your keys in the lock. This gives you quick access and ensures that you don't forget to lock it back up. http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m149/adamkusmc/100_0110.jpg Awesome setup! |

Odds are that it will be a GEN2/3...which is a good thing. Can you explain please, it was my understanding that Gen4's went to a dual spring setup and it noticeably reduces recoil. you feel gen 3 equipment is better because? |
| There's been some erratic ejection problems reported with some of the 4th gen Glocks. You're not likely to have any problems with a 3rd gen, particularly if it's a LOE trade-in! I would have suggested a G17 or G19 (9mm) for a first handgun. You might not like the snappiness of the .40's recoil. |

Thanks, I think it's a simple, inexpensive solution to keeping the gun away from children or any irresponsible adult guests when I'm not carrying it. If more secure storage is needed I can always throw it in the safe. |
