Hey all,

I just bought a new Gen 3 G27 to replace my Gen 2 G23 as my CCW carry, and I'm having an issue with it locking back while rounds are still in the magazine.  At first, I thought that it was my hand position, but I've deliberately kept my hand off of the slide stop and still had the problem.  Plus, I've shot thousands of rounds out of my G23 without any issue!

After I got home from the range, I took apart my G23 and the G27 and played with the slide stop lever.  The spring tension on the G27 is significantly less than the G23's spring tension.  Could this be the problem?  If so, how should I remedy this?  Call Glock?  Just order a new spring?

Thanks for the help, all

Nick

Either the SSL is installed incorrectly, or its spring is out of spec.

Be sure its spring is under the locking block pin, not on top of it.

I had the same problem with my G27 and G22 - it was my hand bumping the catch under recoil. I took the catch out of the gun and gave it a little squeeze in a vise so that it sat less proud. This simple fix totally solved the problem for me with all my Glocks.

Sounds like an incorrectly installed slide stop to me.

This. My Glock Armorer friend installed mine wrong, I took it out and installed it the right way and told him to not touch my guns again.

Ok all, I thought that I would respond now that I've had a chance to work on my G27.

So, the slide stop spring was oriented in the correct position, below the upper pin.  After looking at that, I ordered a Glock extended slide stop to see if I just got a out of spec spring.  I got it tonight, and after installing it, it doesn't appear to have any better tension than the stock spring.  Now, both the original spring and the new spring seem to have significantly less force than the spring that came with my G23.  I'm a little frustrated.

Anyhow, I'm headed to the range tomorrow with all 3 of the slide stops, and I'll shoot full-powered ammo using all of them and write a range report.  I'm just not that hopeful that I've really fixed anything.
