so my 3rd gen G21SF runs 100% i've never had any problems out of it in the 500+ rounds it has thru it, here are 2 pics, the first pic is of the recoil spring fully seated the way it should be, the second is what i see every time i field strip the gun, whenever i take the slide off the recoil spring is in the second pictures position, like i said it runs fine but i'm not sure if this is a problem or not

I've noticed this on all of my Glocks.  Still haven't had a malfunction yet.

My opinion?  If it's still shooting 100%, then no need to worry.  That being said, I'd like to here from those more knowledgeable on the mechanics about this.

Bluetick gave the correct answer.  The half-moon cut is only to facilitate assembly.

Once the pistol is assembled, the spring guide will ride against the front edge of the frame in the frame channel, just ahead of of the breach block, as designed. It never rides against the barrel when in use.

This. Look at the rounded section just in front of the trigger block. The spring rests against this during firing.

As others have said, completely normal. Yours does what every other Glock is supposed to do.

The first semi-circle notch is just for re-assembly. The second is the normal operating notch that it defaults to after assembly. You are definately good to go.

After watching this video by James Yeager from Tactical Response I was worried about it as well.
