| I'm just curious, does the glocktalk forum not accept new members any more? I tried registering twice and both times my new account got deleted. What's the point of having an annoying popup that says "register now!!!!" every time I click any link of the site if they don't allow you to register? Seriously. |
| I have found that a lot of forums won't accept an on-line e-mail address like Yahoo, Google, etc. I have always used my internet providers e-mail and never had a problem. I belong to at least 9 different forums because of my varying interest in different firearms. Some of them take a while to get approved and some require various boxes to be checked when trying to open a new account so make sure you read and understand everything they want you to do or you may never get approved. Lots will send you a verifying e-mail to test the address you use for the application and you must reply to that e-mail so they know it's authentic. This seems to help weed out surfing trouble makers that use phony info when they sign up just to cause trouble and not be tracked. |

Quoted: joined a couple weeks ago.....pretty much rate it about a 5 out of 10. I may just be spoiled by ARFCOM but glocktalk doesnt really have much to offer besides the serial # project which is interesting. OP is not missing anything by not being able to join +1 Worthless forum unless you want to talk about how wonderfull the Lonewolf product line is. -Deke |

They had some problems a while back and a lot of IP addresses were banned automatically. I think now they require you to make your first post in the Introduction Forum. It's a good place to learn about all of the tiny little technical details of the Glock design, but many of the people who post there absolutely refuse to acknowledge that there's anything wrong with any Glock. |

popup blocker perhaps? No. I successfully created and activated my account. It said it would be active once an administrator approved it. Next day, try to log in, says account doesn't exist. Repeat. You have always had to have an administrator approve it and that can take a while. Just watch your e-mail because when it is activated they will e-mailyou via the address you gave when you signed up. |

No, it was deleted. When I try to do a password retrieval on my e-mail address, it says no account exists with that e-mail. So the admin is not just denying the new signup, but is wiping the account as well. |
| I enjoyed it while I was a member, there are a few older gentlemen there who are an absolute wealth of knowledge. Like any forum you need a feel for who to listen to and who to ignore, the majority of the folks there are unfortunately the latter. One particular member I let under my skin, lost my cool, and sent him a PM which resulted in my ban for life. I thought private messages were private, apparently not, at least not on GT. |

Been a member there for awhile. What's funny is that all the negative things you guy's say about Glocktalk, they say about Arfcom. I was a member over there. The operative word is WAS. I then change my ISP to Verizon. Suddenly I'm booted out. I plead with the mods to reactivate my account but to no avail. No one wanted to answer me so I said screw them and came here. |
| Wow, logged in to GT for the first time since June 2007 because of this thread. It's completely different. Joined GT in January of 2000. It seemed really good back then, but then it trailed off. Then there were the questionable fund raisers. Just sort of lost interest in it after a while. Really don't feel like I'm missing much. |
| The "questionable" fundraisers are the site owner's only source of income. He's taken in tens of thousands of dollars, using what is clearly an illegal internet lottery, claiming them to be "fundraisers". The owner of GT has no interest nor knowledge of Glocks. I doubt that he even owns one, unless it would have been donated by an unsuspecting sponsor. There's no way to know who actually receives the donated lottery winnings. |

Your not being accepted as a GT member is God's way of protecting you from the infantile drivel of the sophomoric, ignorant proletariat!!! This ! |

GT of old was fantastic....
GT Now, well, for the last week since I got my first Glock (26), pretty much has been a painful experience. (I've decided to come here for the most part, for advice and support.) There seems to be a lot more Trolls and duchebags with sarcastic comments about anything original or different you plan to do with your Glock... Threads get locked for no real reason...Apparantly another poster saying the Steyr factory trigger is better than the factory Glock trigger, (and me confirming it), is not on topic enough, or Glock related enough. Comments and questions on the GT Support Forum take 5 days for an answer... (Though it was a nice answer when I got it.) Classifieds have even gotten worse... In general, they act like 'fan-boys' with the "if your not doing it my way, you're wrong" attitude. |
|
I second that.
Been a member of GT since 2000 and it was a great forum, but nowadays it just has gone downhill. The classifieds has become another "general discussion" forum. People/trolls just crap all over each other's ads. I've emails admins/mods with no response when I was scammed. No help at all. From my understanding, the site was sold to another party. And from the Mod who I spoke with, said it wasn't a good thing...but who knows. Just a bummer that place has gone to the pits. Lots of good info, but you have to weed out the trolls and deal with the "general discussion" attitudes on there. |

When I tried to join there, I had some problems too. I think I was able to get on, but was not approved to post or something like that.
I also couldn't contact a mod, so I found a mods topic and "marked it as inappropriate" and used the following message box to get ahold of them |
