I have a 17 and a model 23 and have been very happy with both. I have replaced the factory plastic sights with steel night sights and love them. Just got a 19c. On the 19C I replaced the rear sight with a steel one and the front with an ameriglo luminous paint dot sight. I have been happy with the painted dot sight until it fell out after 300 rounds. I had 300 rounds through the gun with the factory plastic front sight and that held up fine for 300 rounds. The new sight is longer front to back and sticks out closer the the gas "ports"
I am wondering if a painted dot sight of this type will be as durable as the factory one . I would appreciate any experiences with front sights on the Glock C models. I am wondering if a tritium front sight would be more durable that a painted dot even though it sticks out farther also. Thanks |
| I kind of answered my own question yesterday. I shot 100 rounds in less than 10 min and the slide got very very hot. Hotter than any other gun I own I would have to believe its from the gas going up into and on the slide. The inside of the slide also gets very dirty. I think what happened is that the slide got so hot the front sight got hot and the heat loosened the paint in the front sight and contributed to it falling out. I think I will buy another non ported barrel to practice with and see if the slide stays cooler. |

I usually shoot about 200 rounds in 30-45 minutes, do you think this would generate too much heat from the vents on the paint? Quoted:
honestly, I never ran mine quite that hard so I'm not sure
It'll be fine. The only problem you're going to run into is soot covering your sight. |
