I've always liked the 1st. gen Glocks. The later 'finger gripped' pistols don't fit my hand so I'm looking at an older G17. What should I look for when I inspect this used pistol? It's at a pawn shop priced at $450.00 and not sure how much those guys will bargin, never delt with before. What kind of price should I offer? Also is the G19 the same but has the finger grips? Thanks for the help.
First you need to dermine if its a first or second gen, neither has finger grooves I have a second gen g23 and agree about the finger grooves,I don't like them either. The g19 is the compact version of the g17.The generation determines if it has finger grooves(third gen).First gen has stippling on the front and back of the grip, second has checkering.
$450 is a little pricey for a 2nd Gen G17 IMO. I recently bought a G29 LNIB 400 OTD from a local shop. Also bought a G20 3rd Gen Factory Rebuild with less than 200 rds from an Individual for $350. Deals on used glocks are out there. Have about 700 rds through the G20 and about 400 rds through the G29 both have worked flawlessly to date..... I had a wise man on another fourum tell me never pay over $400 for any used Glock... Hope this helps....
Thanks guys, that's a great link!! I'll see if I can get him to do $350.00. I'm not in a hurry and there are a ton of used ones out there. Is there some way i can check the slide for excessive wear? Side to side maybe or just note the overall condition of the pistol. Thanks again.
